In order to use Fast boot in Win 8, you need to use Hiberfil.sys.
The default size of this file is 75% of available memory. Since win 8 only stores the os kernel during hybrid boot/ shutdown.
You may want to limit that size, especially if you have a large amount of ram.
In an elevated CMD prmpt, type: powercfg /h /size [number of the percentage you would like to have this file]
