x-fi xtreme audio on msi eclipse

I recently built my dream computer using the MSI Eclipse SLI. Everything was working great until I went to install the audio drivers. The installation worked fine but the soundfont bank manager just says initialization failed and the console launcher only has 3 options: headphones, jack and mixer. I have a feeling it might be because I'm using windows 7 beta.

Windows 7 is still beta, no guarantee that everything will work with it right out of the box.

I suggest that you try with XP / Vista to see if you encounter similar issue.

Yeah even the Vista drivers that come on the mobo's driver CD only give you 3 options. I went to Creative's support page and looked for newer drivers. After installing the latest PCI-E x-fi xtreme audio drivers i got all the menu options back such as equalizer, surround sound settings etc. I think there may even be a Windows 7 beta driver out for that card too.

I'm now using an X-fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro sound card with Windows 7 Release Candidate. I'm using it with the latest Vista drivers though. No problems here :)

Don't know why but Vista drivers seem to work really well on Windows 7. I'm also using Vista drivers for my 2 GTX260's as well (also running flawlessly).

Hi,

I just installed Windows 7 RC (care of my MSDN subscription) and found a beta driver on the Creative Labs site that cured the issues I had with the driver that ships with Windows 7. It may cure yours.
