I bought an MSI X570s carbon max wifi online. Upon building my PC and slotting in the ram I found that 1 ram slot was raised and slanted. Looking between the dimm slot and the motherboard pcb it looks like a terrible solder job where the pins from the dimm slot was not fully inserted into the board when the slot was soldered in. I contacted MSI immediately for an RMA. It was approved and instructions for the RMA was sent to me. I read through the instructions, careful to follow every step including the step where I had to ship the board back to an MSI service center in which I had to pay an amount which I could've bought another motherboard. During the removal of the ram, due to the excess pressure put on the dimm slot by being slanted/raised, the slot cracked right beside the release tab. Then my adventure begins with no resolution in sight.
Shortly after I had sent it in, I receive an email from MSI telling me they have received the motherboard and inquiring if I would like a refund. I thought they decided to do the right thing and refund me the shipping costs. After inquiring I was told the refund was for the motherboard only and that the shipping cannot be refunded. I told them I would like it repaired as the motherboard cost me $400 and the shipping cost me close to $150. Taking the refund would mean I would've paid $150 to be inconvenienced by MSI and still no motherboard so the math just didn't add up.
So after confirming with the representative that I would like it repaired, I was told that there would be some delay due to the chinese new year celebrations. I told them to keep me updated. It's been a month after that email and even longer since I bought this motherboard and I still had not receiv d a reply.
I sent the same Rep that I was in email communications with and have not received any word back. I contact customer service directly and was not given any helpful information other than "I will email him". There was no urgency in trying to resolve this issue.
Nearly 2 months on from buying an MSI motherboard for $400 + shipping cost of $150 = $550 for thin air. My motherboard apparently can't be found and MSI just took my property.
This is theft. I can't believe this company is still in business. I will probably have to take this up legally even though I don't want to.
