X58 MS-7522 Newbie build, RAID Question

Hello, I propose to set this up with 4 hard drives, two 300GB 10,000 RPM drives in Raid 0 and two 1.5TB drives for storage.
I plan to partition one of the 1.5TB drives to have a 600GB section which I will use as a backup to the two 300GB in RAID, can this 600Gb be part of RAID or should I just have sync across every time the system shuts down using Windows 7?

Looking at the manual it says use SATA ports 1 to 6 first but then says SATA 7&8 support raid by use of JMB322, should I connect the two 300GB drives to SATA 7&8 for RAID 0 or put all drives into ports 1 to 6?

Well, you decide.  Ports 1-6 are hosted by the Intel ICH10R Controller and 7-8 by the secondary JMicron Controller.

I don't know which one is faster, so you may want to try both and do some benchmarks.
