Every manufacturer in I've dealt in the past with has always provided a detailed list of changes incorporated in a BIOS update so the customer can decide whether he's affected and so wants to bother with the update. Not MSI. All I can find on their site is the cryptic statement, "Improved system performance" I like better performance as much as the next guy but I'm distrustful of such a broad statement.

Does anyone know exactly what changes were incorporated in the BIOS 1.1 update for X58 Platinum?

Thanks, Bob423

PS, I've also heard there's a 1.2 update on the way (same question as above)

At the moment they work on Version 1.3 in Beta phase(Latest is A7522IMS.134).

anDrasch,

Thanks for the quick reply. It looks like a lot of changes have been made.

Two questions:
On the changes listed under "A7522IMS101 to A7522IMS102"
1 - Are these the changes in moving from BIOS 1.0 to 1.1 or from 1.1 to 1.2?

On the other updates listed (A7522IMS102 to A7522IMS.10D)
1 - Are these additional BIOS updates beyond 1.1 or are they all part of the update from 1.0 to 1.1?

Thanks for your help, Bob423

No all the changes listed are a snipped on the way to 1.1.
1.0D means beta, a pre version of 1.1, all the changes listed are in the final 1.1.
Of course all these changes advect to the final Bios release.

Great!

Thanks for your excellent support. Now I know what was changed and I appreciate the detail!

Bob423

Actually, all those releases (v1.0bx/A7522IMS.10x) are BETA/Prototype-Releases that eventually let to A7522IMS.100 (v1.0), or the first final release. BETA-Releases between v1.0 and v1.1 are named v1.1bx/A7522IMS.11x, A7522IMS.110 being the final/Release Version.

BTW:  The latest BETA Release for your board is A7522IMS.134 (v1.3b4).  That means v1.3 (final) is on the way and also that for some reason the v1.2 final release never made it to the download site.

Jack the Newbie,

If I read your post right then the list provided by anDrasch is only a list of changes incorporated into BIOS 1.0. The changes from 1.0 to 1.1 are not in his list. Is that right?

If that is true, then is there a list of changes for BIOS 1.1?

Bob423

The changelog was only to illustrate the many changes the final BIOS contains when they write "- Improved system performance.".
You should contact the MSI support http://ocss.msi.com.tw/ to answer this.

May be another Forum Member knows more. :noidea:

The changes from 1.0 to 1.1 are not in his list. Is that right?

Yes.

If that is true, then is there a list of changes for BIOS 1.1?

There are continuous and frequently updated lists for the Releases of every BIOS Series.  The list for the MSI Eclipse SLI is probably already a couple of pages long as it includes information about changes and fixes from the first ever released test BIOS for this board until the latest BETA Release (A7522IMS.134 (v1.3b4)).  anDrasch posted part of that list.  In any case, we do not have the up-to-date list and MSI (just like every other manufacturer) does not make provide all their changelogs to end-users.

Before you ask:  I am not a particular fan of this policy and I would certainly appreciate if more detailed information about BIOS Releases would be made available before one decides to flash a newer BIOS Version.  However, as this is a plain user-to-user forum, nobody here can really do anything about it.

For what it's worth, I did put a request into MSI customer service for a list of changes from 1.0 to 1.1 for the X58 Platinum board. If they reply, I'll post it here.

Bob423
