Hello everyone,
I just got a new computer from CyberpowerPC. Great system! I run Flight Simulator10 (FSX). I have the X58 Platinum w/3G DDR3 now which came in it. I have been monitoring prices on the 6G kits. They are now available from New Egg and Tiger Direct for 150 to 170 dollars! I'm thinking of buying one of these but am confused about the 1.5v RAM voltage requirement. I am only technical enough to be dangerous to myself and a few others so I need advice.
I read an article somewhere which indicated the voltage and speed are set by the CPU. Also, there are a number of 6G kits available which advertise they are matched and designed for use with i7 cores. (Mine is the i7-940) The documentation on MSI web site for this board says 1.5v.
So, will the kits which are advertised 1.6v work with the X58 Platinum board?
Thanks,
Earl
