All,
I took a risk and got an Asus U3S6 card at Amazon for $25.  Yea, I know it says you need an Asus board!  I wanted to add more SATA ports and have full-bandwidth USB3.

It's really not a big deal anymore as I found a 90-degree SATA cable and can now use all 7 ports.  Also, the USB3 card is in the x4 slot, so the USB3 chip is getting PCI-E 2.0 bandwidth so it's not limited anymore or anything...but I still have the card.

When I put this card in, the system won't post unless I have the stock 133Mhz BCLK, but it won't boot with any SATA drives attached.  At my normal 186BCLK the system does not post.

Just curious...maybe the necessary BIOS support will be added as I know MSI makes a similar card, although I guess not in the US market.

Also, liking the Pro-E.  While it doesn't have the complex power circuits as more expensive boards, I have found it is efficient and allows good overclocks.  I run 3.9 (4.3 at full TB) with a +.06V increase only.  The IOH was hot, but I replaced the thermal solution...although it's still hot...at least it's stable.  Also, running it with 2*GTX470s clocked at 725 instead of 607.

Thanks in advance...

This is a compatibility issue and you probably have to ask ASUS instead of MSI since it is indicated that you need an ASUS board to run, probably due to restrictions by ASUS.

I would rather get a Highpoint or similar SATA expansion PCI-E add on card which are compatible to more boards than just one brand by itself.

Thanks, it's not that important, though.

I wanted a card that combined the USB3 and SATA on 1 card, as I'm out of slots!

I know MSI makes a similar card, but I have not seen it offered for sale.  Curious whether that will work with the Pro-E or not...
