Hey all! Hope you can provide some assistance :)

My system:
MSI X58A-GD45 (MS-7522) mainboard -- branded "Big Bang" and "Fuzion".
Intel Core i7-950 with stock hs/fan.
12GB (3x4 GB OCZ "PC3 10666 9-9-9 @ 1.65v" -- 1333mhz) RAM
MSI Geforce 570 GTX
OCZ Fatal1ty 750W PSU, 4x 18A 12v rails.

These are completely new parts; I just got them.

I've been testing with only one RAM chip in, the black DIMM slot (1) nearest the CPU. I've reseated the CPU once to check that wasn't the problem. All fans are running. 20+4 pin ATX is in as well as the 8-pin (or 4+4) other one (is it 12v?). System doesn't give me any beeps or indicators that anything is working. All of the CPU power state indicator LEDs are lit--is this normal? I've tried the graphics card in all 3 slots, and even with it out. I've tried taking the RAM out completely to see if the thing will beep at me or give me a nice LED or anything, but nope. How do I troubleshoot this machine?

Hoping to not have to RMA this bad boy...

 Big Bang Fuzion, thought that was 1156 socket?

With the power cord removed from the PSU, clear CMOS, initiate first start with just one RAM stick in the primary black dimm slot. Yes, 8-Pin EPS/ATX is +12V. You need to have the VGA installed.

Added: Might try each RAM stick individually in the primary slot. One or more (or all) may be duds.

Thanks for the quick response. I unplugged the power cord from the PSU, put the battery jumper over for 10 seconds, put it back to the standard position, installed the graphics card, put the power cord back in, turned it on. Same thing: whirring fans and not much else. Same LEDs for the CPU power state.

P.S. Agreed that the naming is weird. Maybe I got the wrong manual. Looking online, the MS-7522 is the MSI X58 Platinum SLI, seems to be what I have.

Something is wrong. Almost sounds like the retailer mixed up three different boards. What does it physically say on the board itself? Serial number on the board match the box, etc.?

Added: Well, this is going to be a real mess. First, let's rule out the Big Bang Fuzion which is an 1156 socket board, part number MS-7582. Here's going to be the confusion; X58 Platinum SLI is MS-7522 V1.0, & X58A-GD45 is MS-7522 V5.0. With both carrying the MS-7522 basic part number, it will be the 'V' number to sort it all out.

MS-7522 VER 5.2
is what it says on the board.
Do you think the CPU and motherboard are incompatible?
the product code of the CPU is BX80601950

Do you think the CPU and motherboard are incompatible?
The CPU you have is the correct type for the board. Glad we got the actual board you have sorted out, X58A-GD45. Try each RAM stick individually in the primary black dimm slot. One or maybe all of them may be faulty.

System doesn't give me any beeps or indicators that anything is working
Is the case speaker connected at JPF2?

I found 2 PC speakers (the 4-pin-wide one with one red and one black on either end), I plugged them into JPF2. Neither one sounds during boot-up.

this is true even if there is no RAM in the slot.

I also tried with a different PCI-E graphics card, a Geforce 8800--nothing.

If the CPU was toast as opposed to the mobo, I'm guessing the thing would beep? So it's probably a bad motherboard?

Likely mainboard or both mainboard & CPU. If you have access to another known functional CPU, that would pretty much tell the tale. Wouldn't hurt to have that RAM tested in another machine also.

Thanks for all your help through this.
The problem? bent pins on the mainboard :( I was SO careful installing and removing it, too... I guess it just came that way :(
Thanks again!!

The problem? bent pins on the mainboard
 Good you have tracked down the cause. Shame it wasn't noticed at the first CPU reset, would have saved you a lot of testing & work. Did you straighten them & everything is ok now, or going to RMA?

Yeah! Pretty silly not to have checked for that earlier, I think I was so scared to have to install it again that I didn't want to look!
I'm going to bend'em back tomorrow, then if that doesn't work I'll give it an RMA.

Good news though: my brother and I ordered the exact same parts, with his it took total 3 hours from unpacking everything to downloading some games on Steam. Pretty easy build and the machine is beautiful--really looking forward to this!

YES! Thanks so much, HU16E for your help.
I used a QuickPay Tim's card to straighten out the pins as suggested in a guide, and a tweezer/steady hand for the really bad ones. I put the CPU and heatsink on, connected the speaker, and... BEEP BEEP BEEP!

It works! I thought I would have had to RMA for sure. Now we've got 2 systems with MSI motherboards and graphics cards working perfectly. Just waiting for the second case... for now I have no problem running it on my desk! Hahahha.

Off to play some games! HUGE thanks again!

Well, good job! Glad to hear it is up & running. Both of you, enjoy those new rigs!
