X58M CPU smart fan control requires 4-pin?

Hi,

I installed Corsair A70 cpu cooler which uses a 3-pin fan connector, smart fan control doesn't lower fan speed, is 4-pin connector required for CPU fan control? SYS1 is 3-pin though.

BTW, IOH temp is 67, guess I will live with it for now  ;D
