Just picked up an x58M board i7 920 cpu and ocz1333 ram.  This board takes a long time to post, by that I mean you turn on the power there is a small pause then the fans and leds come on.  About 30-45 seconds (or more) later you get a bee-bee-BEEP then the video card kicks in then the normal BIOS visual post (hit del to enter setup etc).  What's weird though if I hit ctrl-alt-delete it will not POST again.  I have to hold the power button down for 4+ seconds then the machine turns off then when I hit the power button it all starts again.

All settings set to default.  I noticed that the BIOS picks up my memory as 1066, so i tried manually setting it to 1333 and got the same results.  Anyone else having this problem?  I really hope this isn't normal operation of these boards.

Update: I think I have either have a bad board or bad power.  I cannot even boot the Vista installer without a blue screen.  Sometimes I have to power the machine on and off 8 to 10 times before it will post at all.  Anyone seen this before?

Hi ethermal, & welcome to the forum. :welcome: Both my Eclipse Plus & Pro-E are slower to the Windows Welcome screen than my past Duo Core & current Quad Core machine. I attribute this to a greater number of 'checkdown' functions the bios is doing.

But how long until the initial beep that you would hear when you first turn on your computer?

i have a minor question. i have X58M board with OCZ platinum ddr3 1600. my system also recongnizes my memory at 1066mhz. how caN I CHANG IT TO 1333? OR IS CHANGING IT TO 1333 OVERCLOCKING AND DO I NEED TO MESS WITH IT?
