computer parts

X58M, i7 920, ocz elitextream1000, 6GB kingston ddr3 2000 Black slots, PNY 210 (temp)

Just put this system together off frys specials and some parts I had laying around, but the unit wont post

Video card has been moved from one pci slot, to the other.  In slot 1 no post at all, in slot 2  the unit will post to the main msi flash screen, then beeps, then begins through system check,  stops at 6gn ram check "okay".

The system then stalls, and then it shuts itself down, and

I cant get into the bios, I cant get any further than the 6gb ram check?

any help, as im stumped

thanks

I done that, multiple times, yet it still sticks at the main post screen  where it says "tab"to post, or "del" to bios.

then it freezes, and shuts down after about 45 seconds

also sometimes at boot I get "three beeps"  anyone know what that code means

thanks

Try pulling all but 1 stick of RAM (I'm assuming that an i7 can run on only one stick). Disconnect anything that isn't absolutely necessary. So if you've installed a discrete sound card, remove that as well. IF you have more than one HDD connected take that out as well.

And just for good measure, reconnect all of the power connectors on the board.

took oout everything except one HDD,  reconnected all power cords,  reset the video card....and all  power connectors

installed one stick of ram in the first black socket,  each stick the same thing happens

still the same thing

is it the video card or the ram?

any place I can find out the three beep code,  as I keep getting that

Does the manual say anything about the beep codes? Does your board have a trouble code display on it? If so what code are you getting?

And I suppose if worse comes to worst, then pull the CPU and check for bent pins.

In the 3 beeps, how many long beeps and how many short beeps?

I suggest that you test with another PSU and resit your processor and heatsink fan. Make sure power molex is connected properly.
