I've read a lot about people having long time while rebooting their system.
I just got x670e gaming plus wifi and I have same issues.
I noticed that this long time reboots are happening only when I have HDD connected to the motherboard.
first boot (cold bood) works fine, the issue it is only when rebooting.
when computer supposed to show MSI screen where you can hit DEL or F11 an underscore shows up on the top left corner and it takes like 30 seconds, I can hear the hard drive starting to spin and as soon as it is up and running Bios goes on and show you the screen.
Is there a way I can tweak things about the hard drive on bios?
it has to be related to deep sleep HDD or something about power options to HDD.
any ideas?

Last thing I want to ask is if I should be able to update to future BIOS versions to keep everything working properly, or if this is a custom BIOS and I should stay on this version?

This fix would be included in the any future versions as well.

Ok, so here I am. As soon as I saw your message, I checked the official website for my motherboard and saw that they uploaded an update today. It’s a different version than the one in your link. I downloaded and tried that one, but it didn’t change anything on my system.

Yes, that's older than the one I sent you.

Later, I tried yours, and now boot times are proper!! So, it did fix the issue.

Super

Thanks a lot for your help — you’re the only one from MSI who actually took the time to help me. Customer support wasn’t helpful at all, and social media didn’t even reply to me, so you’re the only one who actually cared, so thank you again!

Forum team (admin and moderators) we are users too,
but we have a direct contact with HQ msi people,
so we cooperate to provide the best experience on the forum.
So thanks to MSI for those updates. ^^ (not me)

I’m also curious why they didn’t publish this version with the reboot fix.

They would update it there (on msi web page) too asap I guess.

Anyway, thanks again for your help!

Welcome :emot-tip-wink:

thanks then to msi bios devs!
and thanks to you too to bring it to their attention

Hi, this is just a follow up, a week later with bios you've sent me I haven't noticed anything wrong with the system. re boots are good and everything seems to be fine.

One thing I've noticed is that BIOS version .1a2 was removed from my motherboard support website, and they still didnt publish the one you've sent me.
maybe they found something wrong?

and then I'm gonna make a new thread about because this was a thing I've seen from the beggining, I've noticed my windows says I have 32 gb of ram (that is right) but 31.6 is available (not so sure way). I've disabled IGPU, even though I am using a 9800x3d annd it doesnt have igpu.
I come from years of using intel and I know when iGPU is enabled it shares ram for the integrated graphic card, but if I disable it no RAM is reserved.

is this normal on AMD motherboards?

it wont matter for .1a2, since you use .1a3 now,
for the rest we don't know what they have in mind
my guess is that soon official version will be out

There is always a small amount of memory that will be reserved with regardless of the platform,
that's normal.

Thanks! I'll try soon.

I have the exact same problem but with the MSI PRO X870-P WIFI motherboard, the latest BIOS version 7E47v1A4 released on 2025-03-19 on the MSI website unfortunately does not solve the problem. I hope for a quick resolution of the problem as happened with the other two motherboards.

There is no solution yet for this board as I know, but for sure they are working on it.

You can go for the latest one .1L instead

SVET I have that one installed and still having issues with EXPO enabled. If I have it enabled I can not reboot but powering down and back on is fine. Reboot shows amber RAM light. Tried with manually setting RAM and no luck. If I leave EXPO disabled and RAM settings to stock it works fine and reboots as it should.

SVET also this did work some time ago with a previous BIOS, I just cant remember which one.

Finally found a fix that works!!! Set EXPO profile 1, then Memory Context Restore to enabled and Power Down enabled. Then for CPU NB set to override and changed it to 1.2V, system is stable and now restarts normally. Hopefully MSI can fix this properly in next BIOS update, even the Beta one they just released didnt resolve it. For some reason the final change of setting the North Bridge manually to 1.2V was the last leg of this fix.

I have an MPG X670E CARBON WIFI motherboard, I’ve been having this same problem for a pretty long time now.

I'll give this solution a try when I get home. Fingers crossed it works. I've gotten so scared of restarting my computer that I just shut it down completely and turn it back on to avoid waiting too long.

*Thanks to you, I seem to have avoided a major problem. Here's what I've done.

Motherboard: MPG X670E CARBON WIFI
Bios version: 7D70v1O2(Beta version) 2025-04-29
  • - I activated EXPO profile 1.
    - I enabled Memory Context Restore.
    - I set Power Down mode to Enabled.
    - I configured CPU NB/SoC Voltage to Override Mode.
    - I manually adjusted the voltage value to 1.20V.
After making these BIOS settings, it took a while for the system to boot up.
However, now when I reboot, the system starts up quickly without freezing or long delays.
Previously, after Windows updates requiring a restart, I was experiencing issues. Now, the system boots normally after restart.
