I use a Samsung S23U phone and the type-C connector on the front panel keeps disconnecting and reconnecting.
MSI super charger+ Which devices are supported?
I tried two Samsung phones and a Black Shark phone and both had similar issues.:sick:

I'm Super Fast charging my S22+ right now at 14 watts. Not that 14 watts is huge but at least it's stable and not disconnecting as with previous BIOS.
Now using latest - 7E49v1A1G

I found this thread while searching for info on Google about the same issue. I am currently experiencing it with a Z890 ACE motherboard and a S4 Ultra.
BIOS version 7E22v1A4

The issue seems to manifest when the charging power exceeds 25 watts, and it appears to only affect my phone as I was able to charge a battery using the full 65 watts.

Hey is the issue fixed? I'm using the same board. Try charging my iphone 14 and also got the same problem (disconnect/reconnect). I'm using super charger+ with nzxt h7 flow usb c front panel. Also running on the latest bios and msi center version is 2.0.48

Update BIOS to latest version as follows:
For X870E GODLIKE: E7E48AMSI.1A24
For X870E CARBON WIFI: E7E49AMSI.1A23
For X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI: E7E51AMSI.1A24

Then go to MSI Center > Live Update > Advanced > scan for PD firmware update 0104.

After those updates,
the front Type-C device should not disconnect when charging power exceeds 25W

Hi, I am on the latest version for x870E Carbon Wifi. I also installed the latest chipset released a few days ago.
Following reply #29
In MSI Center>Live Update> Advanced> Scan
Nothing appears. It says everything is up to date. It has a red letters on top saying MSI does not recommend updating the bios when system has no issues.

I been googling PD firmware update 0104 but I can't find it.

I am not sure if I am doing something wrong.

Thank you for the help.

I just installed MSI Center and the Super Charger app for grins. There is no PD firmware update available.

Does the extra power connection via PCIE_PWR1 have anything to do with USB-C charging? The manual isn't very descriptive as to what exactly this extra power connection is for.

Then you may have already latest version installed.

Don't think so.

For better stability when you have multiple or power hungry PCIe devices.

Just a guess for any of you having the disconnect-/reconnect-loop, are your cables especially long?

I've had this issue on my S23+ at low battery % with Anker GaN chargers+Anker cables (which are rather long) and came across a review of someone detailing the problem.

Apparently due to the increased cable length the voltage drops too low so the phone cuts the connection and reconnects immediately after (which happened multiple times until it's above ~60 % battery) and the Anker chargers don't compensate for that.
Switched the same cables to a Ugreen charger that handles it better and the disconnects stopped occurring.

Could it be a similar issue with how the mb provides power and can't keep the voltage up?

Do you use the mentioned BIOS ver. 1st?

latest etc...? It need to be the version I posted earlier [E7E49AMSI.1A23]
Yep, 7E49v1A23 here and still seeing the issue. I opened a ticket with MSI support around the same time I replied to you, and interestingly enough their reply was:
Sorry to hear you're having issues with the board. If you don't have the PCIe supplemental power connected to the PSU, I suggest you try that. If that doesn't resolve the issue, make sure you update to the latest BIOS version available online here:

If someone else hasn't already tried this by the end of the week I'll open my case up and do it myself.

Careful with that A23 BIOS. Can cause boot loops when booting with things plugged into USB - unplugging them allows booting, and then you can plug them in. Hopefully MSI will release the fix soon...

Hm, hadn't heard it related to that but I'll give it a shot next time I reboot. I haven't disabled that since the upgrade.
I ran into the same issue after upgrading my BIOS and couldn't figure out what had broken. Turned out to be the USB hub on my monitor. Ran across a discussion about the same thing on reddit and disabling that setting in the new BIOS fixed the problem for me. Hopefully it does the same for you.

Thanks, will definitely report back if that does the trick! One of my hubs on my desktop is what seems to bother the boot process for me so I just unplug that and it's booted after a time or two.... so far. Been a bit nervous to reboot otherwise in case it doesn't continue that time...

Upgraded my X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI to E7E51AMSI.1A24
and MSI Center -> Support -> Live Update -> Advance -> Scan showed "No updates available",
but the "Super Charger+" app still shows my phone disconnects after around 25W or around 2.5A.
My Samsung s20 FE phone does request 15W (16W, 9.4V 1.7A) after a few failed 27W request.
So I do not know if the problem is fixed or not.
