I've only ever used the Main BIOS, and is currently updated to 1A50

If I switch to the 'B' BIOS, I assume that will have the factory-shipped BIOS as I've never changed it?

Can I go straight from this early BIOS to the current one (I want to test 1A62) ?

Are both BIOS *completely* independent of each other so if I switch back to the Main BIOS it'll be as it is now?

If that's the case it seems a good way to test Beta BIOS without screwing anything up. I used to do BIOS updates on my Gigabyte board by alternating between Main and Backup.

CPU is 9800X3D

Yes, that is how it works. You can go to the latest one to test. They are independent.
Another nice thing is that if one gets corrupt, you can boot with the good one to the Mflash program, flip the switch and reprogram the bad one.

Cool, thanks!

I guess it's ok to flip the switch while the PC is on? MSI say always power off before switching. I guess it's not an issue when using M-Flash?

Not that I'm hoping for that scenario, just want to run the newer BIOS knowing I have a good one in 1A50

yes, the only way to fix the bad one is switching with power on. boot with the good one to mflash, flip the switch, run the update.

Update: Switched to the B BIOS and flashed 1A62
Not noticed any problems as yet.
M2_2 is running at gen 5 x4 (USB4 disabled)
Not using M2_1 due to the previously mentioned issues so can't confirm if it's fixed
PCI_E1 running at gen 5 x16 (5080 GPU)

Minor issue - got a red BIOS LED now instead of white. I can live with that until next time I swap BIOS

No Spread Spectrum setting to be found in the BIOS... 🤔

Update: I noticed that the RAM tRC was 146, all previous BIOS had it as the correct number, 112.

I've manually changed it to 112 and hope it's ok. I'm not one for spending time tweaking RAM settings so if it's not stable I'll switch back to Auto.
