Hi there,

I have an X99S with 5930k. I have two 3080s installed on PCIE-1 and PCIE-5. I was wondering if I can install a Samsung 980 series m.2 drive? The compatibility page of the mobo is quite outdated and cannot source anything from that list.

Thanks.

According to the manual...you should be able to do so. When you do...make sure you have nothing in SATA 5 or SATA 6, for they will become disabled. As far as the Samsung 980...why not save a few dollars and go with a Samsung 970 or the like...for the board only supports PCiE 3.0.

Thank you for your reply!

Is the PCIe 3.0 the only limitation I have? If that's the case the vanilla 980 (non evo or pro) is PCIe 3.0
