XPower: pcie 1 & 5 for SLI?

Hello, new member here..

Just got my Xpower installed and had a question about SLI, I want to occupy pcie lanes 1 & 5 because I'm going to be installing an aftermarket gpu cooler that will take up 3 slots and I want to skip number 4 to give them some breathing room.

Will I be able to get 16x on both ?

E1 is for the Quantum Wave sound card, E2 is a 16X & E5 is a 16X. So in short, for two VGAs to run 16X in SLI, both E2 & E5 are the only ones you can use. Adding any other card in the other open slots (like E4 & E7) will result in E2 & E5 to drop to 8X.

Sorry for the mix up but yes I ment E2 & E5, I have my x-fi fatality in slot E1.

Will I notice a considerable amount of performance If I drop the 2nd card to one slot below?

You really have to be careful with this board. Depending on the slots you use, it could even go 16X & 4X the way the lane assignments are layed out. The manual covers it pretty well. If your manual is the international one, you might want to download from the MSI Website the PDF version. It is usually a lot more comprehensive. The one test I did only lost a little over 7 FPS going from 16X to 8X with a GTX 480.
