Hi, I upgrade 10400F to 11400F. I've done all the benchmarks to compare. But I was very disappointed.

My spec;

MSI Z490 Gaming Plus (Version 7C75vA6 /// A.60)
10400F and 11400F (unlimited, i chose water cooling for both)
16gb 2x8 3000mhz cl15 micron e die kit (i use xmp for both, 11400F run G1 mode)
RTX 2060 465.89

All drivers and windwos updated and same.

CB20 Scores;
11400F; 3933
10400F; 3042

Show normal but gaming performance;

All gaming benchmark same settings and use built in benchmark;

-Valhalla;

11400F; 53 FPS
10400F; 64 FPS

-Forza horizon 4;

11400F; 119 FPS

10400F; 135 FPS

-RDR2;

11400F; 85 FPS

10400F; 88 FPS

-Horizon zero dawn;

11400F; 100 fps

10400F; 106 FPS

Also all games have stuttering.

I know the reason but there is nothing I can do. Because the microcode is old. Requires MSI BIOS new microcode update.

Microcode 0x1B (27): 8th January 2021
Microcode 0x34 (52): 4th March 2021
Microcode 0x39 (57): 15th March 2021
Microcode 0x3C (60): 25th March 2021

MSI use first or second old microcode. Z490 motherboards need to be updated with Microcode 0x3C (60): 25th March 2021 immediately.

If there is an bios update that is not visible on the site, I want to try it.

I am currently testing my new MSI MPG Z590 GAMING FORCE with an i5-11500. Power limits effectively removed (set to "Tower Cooler"), 2x8GB DDR4-3200 CL18 (just some temporary RAM before i put in 2x8GB DDR4-3600 B-Die).

On April 1st, the board received a BIOS update which delivers microcode 3C, https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/MPG-Z590-GAMING-FORCE
It only came out two days after the launch of the CPUs. So MSI is a bit behind with the updates, compared to the competition. But i appreciate that they went straight to a current microcode.

My results with that beta BIOS (updated straight away, haven't bothered with the previous BIOS):

Cinebench R15: 1604
Cinebench R20: 562 Single
Cinebench R20: 3960 Multi
Cinebench R23: 1474 Single
Cinebench R23: 10272 Multi (6.97x)

I can't compare gaming, my current system is a 9600KF which is a bit too different. But your CB20 result at least seems in line with expectations for the 11400F.

My CB20 score is as it should be. But all games are worse than 10400F and have micro stuttering. It needs Microcode 0x3C (60): 25th March 2021 to fix.

I'll hope you get it soon for Z490. I think they were just busy with the Z590 boards, they even released the update there two days after the CPU launch, while ASUS had it ready beforehand.

Can you also test:

Geekbench 3 Single
Geekbench 3 Multi
Geekbench 5 Single
Geekbench 5 Multi

I will do the same now. Just interested in the numbers. In the single-core benchmarks, you should be about 5% slower than me (4.6 vs. 4.4 GHz), and in the multi-core benchmarks, not even 1% slower, since the 11400 has the same 4.2 GHz all-core turbo as the 11500.

My synthetic test scores aren't too bad. But in all games the 10400F is better.

Geekbench 3 Single 5652
Geekbench 3 Multi 29128
Geekbench 5 Single 1631
Geekbench 5 Multi 7792

So you're around 4% slower in Single (as expected) and almost 8% in Multi, this is more than expected. Either it mixes in a bunch of single-threaded stuff or it's one of those things where the new microcode would make a difference. It could also be that my Z590 does something a bit better or that it likes my DDR4-3200 a bit more.

Left bios have latest 0x3c microcode, right bios older 0x34 microcode. My problem is caused by this. There is nothing I can do right now. I upgraded the CPU by paying more money, but I did downgrade...

If Z490 supports 11, be careful if there is any, it should not be in my situation, will get poor gaming performance(all games) from Comet lake. Because it uses old microcode. For full performance, bios with "Microcode 0x3C (60): 25th March 2021" are required. Unfortunately, there is nothing left to do but wait.
