Hello
I am new here and i was wondering about my motherboard which as you saw it is a z490 mpg gaming plus. I had the first pin as you can see in photo bent and in attemp to bring it at its first place i broke it. I checked on google for socket 1200 pin out diagram but no luck. I sold my previous i5 10400f and got 11400f and now when i power up i have no image only cpu light is on. Bios version is the first one which sure doesnt support 11th gen yet. So my question is this first do you know what this broken pin refers to ? and second is it bios fault that it doesnt show image?

thank you

I don't know what the pin will do but breaking it could definitely result into such condition. If your BIOS is outdated, you might get that, too but I still tend to believe it's due to the socket.

If you're an optimist, you can take the Socket 1151 pin layout and assume that on top, nothing much has changed. There are additional pins at the bottom and on one side of the socket, but most likely, they kept the top pins as is.

If we now look at the S1151 pin layout, we can see what's what:

Note that Pin 1 is on the top right, so this picture is lying "on its side".

Your pin seems to be 1-AV, it is marked RSVD, which stands for Reserved. And VSS would be a ground pin by the way. A single reserved or ground pin shouldn't be a big deal, unless they put something important there with 10th/11th gen, but i doubt it. You should try updating the BIOS with a 10th gen CPU.

thank you all for your reply. Citay i also checked that photo and also assumed that but i dont have a 10th gen cpu to check if it has image. Is there anyway to update bios without cpu on this motherboard.?? guess not :p

When i checked the ground pins as shown in the 1151 socket are not the same tho .

Still, you got nothing to lose. The CPU can't get damaged from a missing pin. Just see if it works.

By the way, next time you got a bent pin, bring the board to a watchmaker. They got the right tools and skills for the job, for a fiver they'll bend it straight again in a couple minutes.
