Yes, I think that this makes the most sense, though I am sure it will take some time to get everything I need working. I will use the 980 pro, and will still be able to pull files and folders off of the 970... I think this will be a task for the weekend...

Thanks for all the input.

Hi, just got windows 10 installed, but it cannot access the internet, says it can't detect a properly installed network adaptor. I am using an ethernet cable straight into the router. Swapped cables, just to check, made no difference.

There is probably no compatible network driver on your Windows install media (You could double check by looking for yellow exclamation in Device Manager). Use a different PC to download driver either from MSI site or Intel site, then use Windows Update after installing that driver.

This can happen when you use an outdated Windows installation. The Intel LAN driver refuses to install if your Windows 10 version is too old. For example, if you are using a Win10 USB stick that you prepared a long time ago, the resulting Win10 version will be outdated. So it's vital to use the latest Win10 Media Creation Tool (or the one for Win11) to freshly prepare a USB installation drive and install from that the usual way (F11 for boot menu).

So press WIN+R and enter "winver" to check your Windows version. Ideally it should be Version 22H2, that would be the current one.

The newest LAN driver download is here: https://www.intel.com/content/www/u...el-network-adapter-driver-for-windows-10.html
