Hi,

A few days ago I purchased the following components and setup my pc. I came across some problems which I solved some and there are a few which I am stuck into. but the most frustrating is my network connection problem which makes me mad and really considering to return the motherboard back. My main problem is that eventhough it says connected it doesnt seem to communicate and need to disable and enable the connection. There is also an alternate version of problem where it says "action needed no internet" the solution is the same disable and enable the connection. I made a reasearch about the ethernet controller "Intel(R) Ethernet Controller (3) I225-V" and there are a lot of same issue problems seems like this controller is doomed. what i have done so far is as follows i have made some changes on the device which i added below which i created with intel system support utility.

Any help is welcome it makes me really mad. Thank you all in advance for your kind helps.

My configuration.

Hello, how are you? I have the same motherboard and the Internet works without any problems. You must update the BIOS to the latest version A20, then install the Wi-Fi 7 antenna behind the motherboard. You must update Windows11 to 23h2 and download the full updates, and the Wi-Fi will appear for you. I think the matter is complicated, but the problem will be solved.

hi i have tried and disabled ipv6 and nothing changed same issue which makes me mad.

Wrote to MSI hope they can help with the issue, but the mail i received so far seems to be a pre prepared mail which makes me think the issue is really a very very common issue without a solution. I have seen more than 100 posts on the web regarding to the same chipset with the same issue. How can they release a product with such a problematic ethernet switch eventhoug they know it is build 3 and prior 2 builds were also problematic. I am a retired electronics engineer, i had to save for a time to be able to purchase the products i need so i have a problemless latest build computer but it is a disappointment.

Kindest regards

Nb: WHile writing i coudnt post it while it dropped the connection so i had disable and enable the ethernet again.

What is your exact router model?

By the way, on your photos, if the white point of your camera is anywhere near correct (and from the book in the background, it seems to be), then the picture on your monitor has a severe yellow/red tint. You should check the monitor settings. If you tell me your monitor model, i can see if i can find good picture settings for it. It almost looks like the monitor is defective, but i hope it's only a bad picture setting.

The photos are not mine i think someone posted by mistake.
I have an SMC e110 switch connectoed to the pc which is a managable gigabit ethernet switch and that gets connected to a huawie router then a meadia converter and f/o cables. I have used this setup more than 6 years. I have never had a problem with it even once. I have 2 more notebooks that i use to connect to internet but never had an issue with it at all.

Ah sorry, of course, it was ali-2024-ksa who posted the pictures. Disregard then.

Which exact Huawei (?) router is it? I think it's more about the router than the switch. My theory is that these disconnects only happen with certain router chipsets on the other end. This would explain why some people with this I225-V (including me) don't suffer from disconnects, while others get them all the time.

Have you tried a clean driver install yet? https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000058304/ethernet-products.html

The router is Huawei hg253, but it is not directly connected to the router prior to router i have an smc SMCGS10C smart EZ switch. Well i understand what you try to say but i am using this system as i said without any problem for more 6 years. I have tried almost tried everything i know (i am retired IT engineer) and tried everything i foun on internet apart from updating i225 NVM. I havent tried it only on POE switches.

How often do these disconnects happen? Is it easy enough to test, so you don't have to wait for hours? Can you try it only on the switch without the router, and then only on the router directly without the switch? If they only happen with one of the two configurations, that would give a valuable hint.

@gurhan.bayi15d102e8 try changing the following settings on your I225V:

*LsoV2IPv4:Large Send Offload V2 (IPv4):"Disabled (0)"
*LsoV2IPv6:Large Send Offload V2 (IPv6):"Disabled (0)"
*TCPChecksumOffloadIPv4:TCP Checksum Offload (IPv4):"Rx & Tx Enabled (3)"
*TCPChecksumOffloadIPv6:TCP Checksum Offload (IPv6):"Rx & Tx Enabled (3)"
*UDPChecksumOffloadIPv4:UDP Checksum Offload (IPv4):"Rx & Tx Enabled (3)"
*UDPChecksumOffloadIPv6:UDP Checksum Offload (IPv6):"Rx & Tx Enabled (3)"

the LSO normally doesnt need enabled in a normal network environment, your checksumoffloads do need to be enabled. Try the settings change and let us know if you have any better results. Btw, I also have the I225(v3) on my MSI Z690

hi Wroger,
i have done the settings is the link speed set to auto or you set it to 1gb speed. Actually if your I225 is workinbg without a problem can u use intels systems support utility (SSU.msi) and share the ethernet section here so i can see all the detail like driver, card setup and nvm value and can compare it with mine. Thank you in advance for ypur kind help.

Hi wroger,
I have done the same settings as yours which i added the SSU information below so you can check. The only difference seems to be the inf section where mine refer to
Index:"0002"
INF:"oem7.inf"
and yours Index 0001
INF oem20.inf

Maybe this could be due to OS i dont know couldnt find andy information about it. Hope it will work i will write here asap there is a change latest SSU saved data is

Hi wroger,
I have done the same settings as yours which i added the SSU information below so you can check. The only difference seems to be the inf section where mine refer to
Index:"0002"
INF:"oem7.inf"
and yours Index 0001

Maybe this could be due to OS i dont know couldnt find andy information about it. Hope it will work i will write here asap there is a change latest SSU saved data is

if it doesn't work, try changing the following to auto negotiate:
*SpeedDuplex:Speed & Duplex:"1.0 Gbps Full Duplex (6)"

Also, I noticed it looks like your NIC is running in a VM, doing some research but if I recall correctly, there was an issue with the NIC in a VM and there might be a fix. will let you know what I find out.

Hi there,

to make it equal to you i have changed to auto negotiation. For the VM, i have vmware workstation installed but used on demand only when i need to do something in linux or mac os and when it is not operating the resources are not used. The data you have seen is when vmware is working these definitions are for connecting i225 i presume.

Trying to research your switch and router, SMC and Huwaei, respectively, the SMC is obsolete as SMC is now Edgecore Networks and I couldn't find anything but a couple of old manuals for it. As for the Huwaei, reading about that particular model, it has issues with dropping conections(here is one article I found about it: Router Misadventures: Dumping Superonline's ISP Fiber Router on a budget — Ave's Blog (lavatech.top) ). The switch might still be good, to troubleshoot/rule out the actual NIC, if you can, plug your actual Internet connection into the NIC (i225) and see if it drops with a direct connection. If it doesn't, then try using a different router other then the Huwaei and see if it drops then. If not, the it was Huwaei acting up, if it does'nt drop, plug your internet connection into the SMC, then plug your computer into it to see if your internet conncetion drops. I don't think right now that it is the NIC(i225), I'm thinking it's one of your network hardware. You'll just have to troubleshoot to see which one it is.

Hi wroger,

I have read your post and made a research as well in my native language and this can be the culprit. In 15-20 days my subscription reneval data will come and will change the router as well to a Zte H3600 Wifi6 . And then i can see what will happen and also will share the result with you as well. I would like to thank you very much for your kind help.

Kindest Regards.
