My Build:
OS: Windows 10 Technical Preview
Motherboard: Z87M Gaming
CPU: i7-4770K
RAM: 2x Corsair (Need to look up the model when I get home) 4GB 2000Mhz (8GB total)
Video: R9 290X (Recently changed from 7870)
Storage: 2x 500GB HDD (RAID 0) | 128GB SSD (50% Cache 50% Storage)
About two weeks ago, I was using the computer when suddenly it just powered off. Everything had been great for months, no problems at all, running at stock clocks all around (minus XMP for RAM), so the random power-down was a bit of a shock.
After the system powered down, I tried booting it up again, and each time the system reported an "overclocking failure" and forced me into the BIOS. I finally got the system booted into Windows by lowering the RAM speed to 1066, tried a BIOS update to see if that would work (it didn't). Finally, I gave up for the time being was able to play games with that RAM setting for the rest of the night without further issue.
The next morning, when I powered on the computer, it wouldn't boot yet again, except this time it was looping the BIOS codes: 10, 19, 15, 55
I cleared BIOS, disconnected peripherals, reseated the RAM, and nothing would get it to boot until I tried booting with one stick in the inner-most RAM slot. The computer booted just fine and I was able to set the RAM back to their XMP speed. Then I tried the other stick, and it worked as well.
Long story short, I discovered that the interior two slots operate perfectly with both sticks, but whenever I populate any of the exterior 2 slots, I get the boot-loop BIOS codes stated above.
Furthermore, when I was in the BIOS, I noticed that the motherboard seemed to be missing a lot of information regarding itself, with many fields showing "To be filled by O.E.M." It didn't even know it's own serial number.
That last fact makes me believe it's gotta be the motherboard... Is there anything else I can try before I RMA it?
