MSI P965 Neo onboard Realtek HD audio has no sound
« on: 14-November-06, 20:45:04 »

I just bought a new MSO P965 neo-f motherboard with the built-in 7-1 Realtek HD audio and I have no sound.

Windows detects it and I have installed the latest realtek driver (v1.49). Everything looks fine, but there is no sound, as if its all muted.

I have tried different speakers, but no result.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

At witch output connector you are plugging the speakers? You don't have any sounds even when windows loads,or when using certain applications?

I have absolutely no sound. I have tried all connectors. I have even tried putting the motherboard in a different chassis that has front-plug-in. No results :(

First of all I hope that onboard audio is enabled in BIOS-Integrated Peripherals. Then you are only using the onboard audio(not any additional soundcard). If so,connect the output cable in the green connector, because that is the main audio output(stereo mode),no mater how your sound card is set to (4.1,5.1,...). If you still don't get the sound, the problem should be within the drivers. I don't know what version of Windows you are using, but upgrade it to SP2. Also, install the latest directX.
After that uninstall the current driver-reboot-install the drivers that were supplied with your MB.

Do you have the realtek console thingy installed ?

It allows for 'hot-routing' of audio IO...
Perhaps without this application there is no routing at all.
