I read a lot of Threads about this question and it seem that Speedfan does not (yet) support the 965 Platinum.

Send a report to speedfan developer using the "send report"-option of the program (info tab)...

Alfredo Milani Comparetti is working on a new version and there is a good chance, that it will support newer chipsets...

You can control your FAN speed (MSI 965 Neo-f, not sure about platinum), you just cant read the RPM.

At least in December or so you had to use beta version of speedfan (you must register to download it, no spam sent to my email after registering).

More on this thread, Im getting bored of writing about this issue :)

What software can I use to read

fan speed
voltage on all rails
system temp
CPU temp

with the Neo-F? And I'm talking about one software for all! Why dont the Intel TAT and DualCore Center (MSI's own freakin software!!!) work on the Neo-F!   :angryfire:

guess we have to stay with dualcore center ?! :undecided: .. the reason is the fan control chip is MSI proprietary chip... unless somebody provide Speedfan author to know how and where to access the registers...

How can Speedfan don't work?

You have 4.32 Beta? And your bios?

Second, this is my first MSI motherboard, but i don't think that MSI product a proper chip for fan...i think it use Winbond chip..

Oh... rly dunno :). I got my speedfan to control fan speed, using core1 and core2 temperatures for controlling. Fan obviously speeds up (with speedfan's % values when i run e.g pifast), changing fan speed % setting manually causes fan to change speed, or at least so my eyes and ears seems to note it.

If you want instructions for setupping, I have to admit that this is actually first time I'm able do it with my mobo, so I just followed the pictures found from SpeedFan help/quide. Only reason I'm running with stock cooler is that I have been too lazy to get new hoses for my watercooler.

When I installed SpeedFan I first got to see FAN speed for a short while. While setting up speedfan's settings for fancontrol the FAN speed value dropped to 0. After that it has been dead except for once it worked for like 5 seconds or so.

My version seems to be SpeedFan 4.32 Beta 8. I'm currently running BIOS 1.6B13 on WinXP sp2, with some drivers which version number I dunno. Old Bios because I haven't had time and/or interest to flash 1.6B15 as I should again debug with my 3 SCSI cards and write more $hit to support, which cant help me I'm afraid.

Seems to work, when I drop core target temperature below idle temps, the Fan slowly speeds to 100%, and back to 25% when I put it back to normal threshold.

Wonder if theres sum tool for Windows to take live screen capture video to prove it

I'll try to remember tomorrow to check the forums.

Sry didn't mean it like that. I was trying to say that I see quite much same topics, so it feels like copy machine to write same stuff every time, so linking to old topic :)

For example u can weekly see new topic "p965 neo not booting from cd-rom", always same problem with that stupid Jmicron & mobo BIOS illogical operation.

Checking forums weekly if I should spot someone having samekind of PCI-line problems I have.

Did some thermal throttling tests today, pics @ www.mbnet.fi/~prc/temp/

Thats what I see from speedFan, changing fanspeed % from 0 -> 100 causes fan to keep louder voice. So seems it works. Tho RPM is shown 0.
Except at this picture the fan speed is 0, as I had to remove my fan powerconnector to be able to get temps over 80C for thermal throttle to start.

To see speed of fan you should set the divider on 8.

Try if you can see now rpm of fan?

Bye

 :lol_anim:

Yep, now I see the fanSpeed, so at least speedFan 4.32 Beta 8 is able to monitor & control the fan speeds. Setting power to 0% results 1060RPM, @ 100% its ~2000RPM.
