MSI Bios rev. 1.20
« on: 12-January-08, 17:22:51 »

Just flashed my bios with rev 1.20 and for my K9A2 platinum there was NO change in the DDR2 settings visible to me. As a result I went back to the settings that Quadrifoglio gave me in my previous post.  There is a noticeable change in the chipset features, now they are labeled as;
PCI_EX1 GEN2 HIGH SPEED MODE
PCI_EX3 GEN2 HIGH SPEED MODE
PCI_EX4 GEN2 HIGH SPEED MODE
PCI_EX5 GEN2 HIGH SPEED MODE
 Options are; auto, disabled, software initiated and advertised rc. My question is........what the heck are the options doing and what are they for? I'm guessing they are for the PCIE slot version/speeds?

  • They are PCI-E 1.1/2.0 settings to control PCI-E bandwidth. Depending on the graphic card(s) you use, you can run the PCI-E slots in 1.1 mode or in 2.0 mode...

    HI Everybody.... I have got a K9A2 Platinum mobo.

    Anyone knows if there exist any king of trouble or something wrong if I do install the only one VGA card that I have on the PCIE #4 (dark blue = 16x), because I have got an excellent case but I little bit old, and its makes me impossible to install the VGA on the PCIE #1. I believe what I doing is valid, however I realised that I will never be able to install a Crossfire configuration.

    I will wating for your response. Thank You so much!
