Hybrid power & K9N2 Diamond
« on: 04-August-08, 14:02:41 »

I just buy my new config :

AMD Phenom 9950 Black Edition
MSI K9N2 Diamond Board
2x1GB Kingston DDR 1066 ram
2x 9800GTX Video cards
600 watt Silver Power - SP-600AC2 Powersupply
Vista 32 bit

I am not able to properly activate the hybrid sli.
I install the latest bios 2.1 of the motherboard and last drivers: nForce driver version 18.11, and driver gpu GeForce Release 177.79.

In the menu Hybrid Power there are three modes: "Save power", "Boost performance" and "additional displays."
At the windows start, I was in "Boost performance", I selected "Save power", the two graphics cards 9800 normally shut down.
Then I wanted to restart the 9800gtx by selecting "Boost performance", but nothing happened, the system remained at "Save power" after waiting a minute. Even after reboot the computer.

Is it normal ? bios update ?

Thanks for yours answers.

Thank you for your answer, but I think the bios doesn't not support hybrid sli or my motherboard suck... But I don't think it, because SLI work finely with "Boost performance", but when set to "Save power", it stay for all the time. For recover the "Boost performance" I uninstall the GPU 780A. It's very boring.

If someone with a K9N2 Diamond and bios 2.1 can tell my if hybrid sli works.

Thanks again.

Two possible reasons:
- The PSU might not be of the right kind. http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_9800gx2_pwr_supply.html
- You have an SLI configuration with 2 cards which cause problems.
- There is a driver problem, try 7.15.11.7451.

I have a similar configuration:

AMD Phenom 9950 Black Edition
MSI K9N2 Diamond Board
2x2GB OCZ DDR 1066 ram
1x 9800GTX Video card
900 watt PSU - Tagan
Win Vista Ultimate 64bit

and I have the same problem - after activating Hybrid SLI, there was the "Boost performance" mode and after changing to "Save power" mode I'm unable to change the mode again.

Now I'm downloading the newest whql drivers (released today?) 178.13, hope it will be OK. If not, please, can you help me where can I download the 7.15.11.7451 for Vista 64bit?

Thanks for all answers...
