I too have this problem with the non recognition of a dual core in XP. Would someone point me to the bios that resolves it please? Many thanks.

Does in "Device Manager", under "Computer" says ""ACPI Multiprocessor PC"?
Have you "LOAD BIOS OPTMIZED DEFAULTS" in BIOS too?
What's current BIOS version onboard?

P.S:

Official 3.7 is out ==> ftp://duser:duser@66.232.110.239/MB%20BIOS/7252v3x/7252v37.rar
Which will solve the issue{has been confirmed by user} as the provisional/older 3.71{Beta} do.

Yes to ACPI
Yes to optimized defaults
3.1 is my current BIOS

I'm now running (trying to at least) 64 x 2 dual core Pro 5600+
It says 2.8Ghz count 2 with DRAM = 555Mhz Dual Channel
I'm getting a Unknown Processor Revision message so do I need to upgrade my BIOS?

Lastly, on a different note, can I run more than two SATA drives even though my MoBo doesn't have any more connections?

Thanks for your help. It really is appreciated.

"Yes to ACPI"

Which one ACPI?

"Lastly, on a different note, can I run more than two SATA drives even though my MoBo doesn't have any more connections?"

With extra SATA controller yes. Else not.

Thanks Boss.
I made a bootable CD and it all installed perfectly.
Now my WD 500GB hard drive with 5000 pictures on it has died though - what a bummer!  :wall:

Get attached archive, then >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<

Yes its the matter, when you install X2 CPU it should automatically change to acpi multiprocessor.
If that doesn't happend, enter in BIOS and "LOAD BIOS OPTIMIZED DEFAULT", followed by "SAVE AND EXIT".
Then manually update HAL to "ACPI Multiprocessor PC"

"cheers 4 the help"

Use normal language, MSN and such are not allowed.

"i read some of the link u sent me for flashing with usb mem, do i need a program to make the files bootable?? and do i need 2 change them files to iso???"

No read the link, there is a guide how to use it.

ok i ran the program MSIHQ USB Bootable Tool, i picked the folder as zip and ran the program and it succesfully copied to my flash drive, i then booted from this and it flashed bios ok  but
when i checked the bios it said version 3.6???
i dont get the [unknown processor revision] sign but when i check in the device manager & computer it still says uniprocessor?
i tryed "LOADING BIOS OPTIMIZED DEFAULT", followed by "SAVE AND EXIT". but still no good
how do i manually update HAL??? to "ACPI Multiprocessor PC"
should i have picked out the file A7252NMS.370 from the download you gave me manualy and flashed only that one???
thanks again

Yes, that's why i upload it and linked to it twice. Just point to 7252v37.rar in my upload.
{Not to 7252v37.rar from the FTP, which archive contain both 3.6 and 3.7 in same time probably due error and you have flashed 3.6{Bugged} instead 3.7}

"how do i manually update HAL??? to "ACPI Multiprocessor PC""

What CPU you use?
Right click over it and select "Update" then pickup "ACPI Multiprocessor PC" from the list.
But flash the BIOS 1st.
