MOTHERBOARD DRIVERS DISC
« on: 20-October-09, 22:31:13 »

Hi folks,

Does anybody use the motherboard driver disc that comes with your motherboard?

My board is a 770-C45. I normally just let the operating system find and install the updates, and use the MSI live to find the required files.

thanks.

For Windows7? No.
For all others, yes, why not? Unless the latest drivers are a must.

Well go to MSI driver page and get W7 drivers for your board:

I thought at first you were asking about W7 from reading posts 2 & 3, but it doesn't seem you specify what OS you are discussing.   If the OS has been out for a while, I use the CD for the chipset, lan, and audio.  But, what I really do is go to the website and download the drivers needed beforehand and put them on a USB drive.  I used live update for 2 weeks when I built my first MSI machine, see system 2, but dumped it after that.  We definitely do NOT advise using a Windows based flash utility, such as Live Update, to flash a BIOS.

Nor can 64bit if your programs aren't 64bit either.

32bit programs won't be able to address all the ram as Bas states either.  Windows7 will bring most of what you need, but download the drivers anyway in case you need them.

Espacially the LAN-drivers.... having those will let you get the rest.
