K9AGM2 boot problem
« on: 14-January-10, 02:51:47 »

Hi, all

I have a boot problem. No beep. No display. Power supply and CPU fan running.
I have disconnected everything (HDD, DVD). Same problem.
My mainboard is a K9AGM2, my proc is an AMD AThlon 64X2.
No extension card.
What does "no bip" means ? Is it a CPU, a mainboard or a memory problem ?
I tried without memory ( I have only one), no beep.
I tried with another power supply. Same problem.
Thank you for your help

Without memory it will never beep.
Did you connect CPU power?
Did it ever work before?
Did you try with 1 memory stick in slot next to CPU?
Did you try with borrowed known to be good memory?

Thank you for your help.
The CPU 4pin power is connected.
The mainboard 20+4 power is connected.
The PC was working for 2 years.
The memory slot I use is the first one (green near the CPU).

I've been told that a faulty memory should issue a specific beep sequence not "no beep". Am I wrong ?
Does no beep means a mainboard error or a CPU error ?

Not beep means the CPU can't start for some reason.
Could be anything from broken memory, bad BIOS flash/settings, broken board, missing 12V to bad CPU.

Start replacing parts until it boots, only way to find it.

How did this start anyway? What did you do before it stopped booting?

Yes, sounds like a processor problem. What happened? Did you do something?
