G41M-P33 EZ OC Switch
« on: 12-December-10, 01:49:19 »

I have a new G41M-P33, latest bios 7A, running Intel Q9300 Yorkfield (Stepping 7, Revision M1) with 4GB DDR3-1333. When I try to increase the FSB from 333 (default) to 400 using the EZ OC switch (all down, OFF position as per manual), nothing changes: Prime95 running, Core Speed @ original 2499.9 MHz, Bus Speed @ original 333.3 Mhz. Is there something else that needs to be done, besides setting the EZ OC and disabling Spread Spectrum, to change the FSB speed? Is the motherboard defective?

TIA

Did you >>Clear CMOS<< after changing the switch positions?

I did not manually use the jumper to clear the CMOS, but I did try different versions of available BIOS with optimized defaults loaded each time; I assume the process of updating the BIOS from DOS cleared the CMOS. The manual didn't mention clearing the CMOS each time, only that the power be off.

Well, do it then:  Unplug your PSU from A/C power and >>Clear CMOS<< after switching to 400 MHz FSB Clock Speed.

If you are absolutely sure that the Switches are in the proper position for 400 MHZ FSB Clock speed and there is absolutely no effect, then it is probably safe to assume that the switches are not working.  This means a defect regarding this particular board feature which calls for an RMA and/or a replacement board.
