How do i get 64 bit MSI Afterburner
« on: 19-January-11, 00:54:23 »

Hi all. I was wandering if you could help. I recently bought the MSI oc 580 as well and it runs all the games required fine.

Only problem I have is when I run any benchmark program I.e Heaven or 3dmark11 it crashes to the desktop. It seems prolonged stress on this card is causing this.  I'm wondering if I am also suffering from the same issue as you guys..... Only thing is I'm worried about flashing the bios on it. I've flashed bios on my motherboard before so it can't be that hard.
I have just down clocked to 800 and 1600 and ran 3dmark11 without a hitch at all. My SN is 912-v801-1072b1012020534.
Would you be as kind as to send me the bios with a step by step interaction on how to update it?

Thankyou in advance

If it is easier I will just up the voltages. I have MSI burner but it does not show voltages even though I have ticked it to do so in settings. I am running my system on windows 7 64bit.  Just reset the clocks to 822 and 1645 and it failed again and crashed to desktop.  Please help.

Use this version of AB, 2.1.6:

64bit tool Overburner

Doesnt look like i am having much luck here.  I have a Asus Crosshair 2 motherboard and it does not seem to have the option to boot from USB, only floppy disk.

Can i use the inbuilt EZ2 Flash tool to update the bios or is that just the bios for the motherboard?

Thanks

Is there a 64 bit version of MSI burner?  I downloaded the latest version and it will not install due to my Windows 64bit.  Please help as i need to weak the voltages of my MSI OC as it is not stable when running benchmarks.

There is NO 64bit version, there is one version for all windows flavors.
Seems to me there is something other wrong with your system, since it doesnt want to install a simple program like Afterburner.
What windows do you use XP x64, Vista x64 or Win7 x64

Hi,

Sorry.  I just need a version of MSI Afterburner that will let me up the voltage of my MSI OC card.  The current version 2.0 has the voltage box there but i cannot seem to use it even when the box is ticked in settings.

When i try to use the latest version posted on this thread it tells me it is not compatible with my 64 operating system.

Thanks ;D

Strange, Im running Win7 x64 Ultimate and have 0 issues with it.
Did you use admin rights to install, is there a hefty viralscanner running in the back?
Also try latest Nvidia drivers, they cam out yesterday I think, might improve some things.

It comes back with the error.

''The version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you're running.  Check your computer's system information to sdee whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.''

Any ideas?

FIXED IT!!!!!!!!!

Very strange.  When i use firefox to download it will not open with the message.  When i used IE8 to download, it put it into a WINRAR file and it installed first time......

My OC card os running on 1000 mV.  If i uped to 1025 mV do you think the card will now be more stable in benchmarks?

That is something that needs to be tested in order to be answered .... Test it!

Ok. Updated voltage and got very stable successful results. 1 more question...... What is the amp draw on this card? Someone said it was over 20a and my psu only goes upto 18.... Will this cause problems going forward?

Well if your psu only goes to 18A, its a miracle already that it works.
Thats prob also the reason why its not stable @stock.
Get a decent psu, an el cheapo class can take your whole setup with it to electricheaven when it goes out with a bang.
Good brands are Corsair, PC and Powercooling, Seasonic, Thermaltake.
Read here for good reviews about psu's:
http://www.jonnyguru.com/
And be sure to get a single rail with enough amps ont the +12V line.
A minimum of 600W, ~50A on +12V is required according to google/nvidia.
