GX700 BIOS update?
« on: 18-January-11, 23:56:01 »

I'm trying to use my GX700 as a HTPC.  However, to turn it on with a keyboard (wmc remote) or using wake on LAN I'd need a BIOS update.

I just installed Windows 7.  Unfortunately, after I download the BIOS updates from:
http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GX700.html

I can't run either (the Win XP or Win Vista) updates.  If I click on the link that says:
1) To know about how to update BIOS under DOS mode, please click here.

I can't get the PDF to open either.

All I want is a way to shutdown and power up the GX700 with a remote or keyboard, or a way to boot on LAN.

Thanks!

Not sure if a BIOS Update will help you in such a specific scenario.  Perhaps this is already possible without a BIOS Update (check your current BIOS Version before you think about flashing).

BIOS won't help there.
Wake-up on lan is quite simple to do, turn it on in the driver, shutdown Windows (maybe sleep mode) then send a magic packet over your local network to awaken it.
For shutdown, use a tool or take over the screen and do a shutdown.
