Help: 890FXa-GD70 onboard Realtek Lan Card
« on: 26-September-11, 07:06:35 »

Guys, need help on my new desktop. I have updated the on board Realtek Lan card through Windows update. But after the update, the links won't light anymore. I can see from the device manager that the devices were working properly. I have already gone thru reformatiing my pc but still network cards are not functional. I have installed the latest drivers. I know the cable is ok because I can use it with my laptop.

From my device manager I can see this:

Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller #2

Please help thanks!  ;-((

Exactly which LAN drivers did you download and install? There are 3, 1 for XP, 1 for W7 and one for Vista. Don't use Live update, simply download and install the correct version for your OS.

I have downloaded "realtek_pcielan_7_mb.zip" for Windows 7. I have also tried Live update but still it is no good.

Should the registry be wiped out after the reformat? How come after reinstalling the Win7 it is still not functional?

Thanks Henry. It seems there is a problem on windows update. I tried reformatting again and it is functional. But when I did a windows update it also updated the driver and once again not usable.

Don't select that update again then. ;-))

In Device Manager > Properties, try a driver 'roll-back' to the previous version.
