Using Spinrite on a MSI P55-GD65 with a WD 2TB Green?
« on: 16-November-11, 18:07:22 »

I was going to run Spinrite in hopes of fixing my WD 2TB Caviar Green HDD that has had sectors reallocated. So, I booted up Spinrite but it said to make sure my BIOS was compatible or safe. I was just hopping to get some assurance on this. I wouldn't think there is any reason I can not use this as the BIOS sees the drive just fine, but better safe then sorry.

As long as you did not flash to any third party bios or "unofficial" bios from elsewhere, the current bios should be fine. I have used sprinrite on my system before and have a lot of low level format to write drives to '0's without problems so far.

MBR followed by EFI
Thats the error. i tried to just ignore it but spinrite refuses and just complains about bios. keep in mind this is a 2TB drive. my sig seems out of date now.

Then this should be Spinrite problem. So far, those which I have used spinrite with are drives <500GB.
