MSI HDD Backup Utility
« on: 18-March-12, 23:50:58 »

Hello there!

i ve got the same issue... so i would be interested if there is any solution???!?!??!!!
one day ago my ssd shutted down, after alot of rescue tries i managed to get the hdd backup tool by msi running and the ssd mounted (ahci mode), but after about a minute the ssd shutted itself in some kind of "playing dead mode" so i unplugged it and connected it again after one minute same procedure as before ..... at least i managed it to make backup this way  (unplugging and reconnecting the ssd for about 60 times) ...

so status quo is that the ssd is working again ( after firmware update and a total swipe) but i cant manage to get the backup placed on it .. it always ends as an erased unformatted drive ( after a few seconds)...#

so any help ideas suggestions??  would be very appreciated

ps:  i want to restore my boot and systemdrive

adios io

Topic split. In the future please start your own new topic instead of hijacking and resurrecting an old dead topic.

maybe another program which can acces the files and copy them on the hd?

Where are your backup image files? In the same SSD?

Is the SSD now the boot drive or secondary drive?

Hi nOVJOE! (unfortunatly henry splitted the post from the original topic, so now maybe its hard to get the point)

Where are your backup image files? In the same SSD?

no they ar on another HDD (about 27x600mb images) and i also copied them on an external hdd ( just to be sure), i can acces them but always when i start the backup utility via msi winky the process takes about 3 seconds to abort into an error log and the ssd
( which is the target drive for recreating the backup drive)              ends erased in an unformatted status.

Is the SSD now the boot drive or secondary drive?

actually at the momen there is no boot drive  (i guess) but i would like to restore the ssd into the prior bootdrive.

The images which you are talking about are the recovery image files?

I see. You have the installation done in IDE mode thus AHCI mode will not allow you to boot into Windows.

yep ... but i figured out how to theoreticly solve tis problem!

SO NOW IMPORTANT hopefully FINAL QUESTION:  i´ve got the backupfiles from msi hdd backup and i would like to know:

A) how can i check if the files are ok (somekind of discrepair prog. maybe?)
and
B) do you guys know any software which can acces this files except the hdd backup tool itself ( maybe some software i can run in windows or linux)

if you have some answers to these points i would be really glad!

For the above, it is better to log a ticket with MSI Tech support for info.
