heres a few pics of where i'm at so far, going to put a few yellow braids in 24pin and pcie cables and get some different leds for the raystorm block, they should be yellow, not orange. going to tidy cables better when i have done this, and still dont know if i should get a second lightning, may just wait and hope that msi produce a 8970 Lightning and get one of those.

We'll. It's quite a while since someone posted here. But it could be a nice thread so I guess I'll post some of my photos here too.

Quite old and with my old HD5970's.

Will update when I get a waterblock for my new MSI 7970.

The rad on the back isn't really the best solution, but it atleast has some spacers now to get some airflow between it and the case.

After 6 years of using a Dell XPS 720, I've finally built a PC for the first time.

I currently have GTX 460 HAWK's in there.  I'll be changing those out once MSI releases their 780 Lightning cards.  Oddly the Hawks don't seem very happy in there.  Their LED's appear to indicate that the cards are under a constant load.  However real time usage indicators show 0%-1% use.  I've had a number of instances where the video driver crashes and recovers.

So far I've only used the OC Genie button for over clocking.  At first OC Genie was quite cranky and instead of overclocking the system it would crash it.  I cleared the CMOS and OC Genie works now.  OC Genie does not increase the GTX 460 HAWK's over clock.  I'm not sure if that's because I've left these cards factory set all their lives or not.  Maybe if I flicked the unlock dip switches on them Genie might do something to them.

Here's an attempt at posting some pictures.

OC Genie only applies an overclock to the CPU and RAM where possible. It will not change any GPU settings.
Use MSI Afterburner to OC your graphics card.

Nice rig setup btw

Well didnt get any of my brothers and my rig together, but here are a few of just mine .. some changes from the last picture :D ( mind the quality :P )
The lighting changes a whole load of different colors, even came with a remote haha! :D The only thing my lovely machine is lacking is an SSD .. I really do want one, but thet are expensive for such few gigs! if anyone wants to complete my rig for me and send one to south africa i wont complain ;) haha :P .. Ill probably add another 2T storage HDD soon as im running low, and possible PSU upgrade in a few months. besides that im happy with its for awhile .. maybe when the new 9000 series cards come out ill the 7970 lightnings will go for cheap and ill get a 2nd.

My new pretty!

Far from optimal but at least an MSI vga SLi setup so we accept it. Removed the bold type in the post though.

Sorry about the bold. I meant to remove it from the copy/paste. My bad.
Would it be more optimal if I had a MSI board and Asus SLI¿ :P
Disclaimer: I'm not much of a brand loyalist to be honest. I tend to buy the best bang for buck components that are available to me at the time. This time around it was Asus for the board and MSI for the GPUs.

Took me some time to find this. My only MSI item is a Wind u100, which in this picture it is lower right. It has Windows 7 Pro 32bit and was transferring files over the LAN with that other computer there which has Windows 98 on it. :)

I'll play along!

Here is mine. It sits on a shelf for no reason other than my monitor cables aren't long enough to reach on the floor. I usually have the door on so I don't have to hear it...but that would make for a pretty boring picture. The motherboard is indeed a MSI 990fxa-gd80v2, but I made some modifications to cool down the VRMs, Mosfets, and NB. I like my computers quiet, so I run very low case fan speeds, thus the mods.

Also, if you don't have Eyefinity...you're doing it wrong. Best thing since SSDs.

My 1st custom built machine. I am 17 and I was quite on low budget (was saving money over a year, but I think it was not enough to make anything better than I have right now)

Day

Night

Specs:
MSI Z87-G45 Gaming
i5 4670 @ 3.8ghz (Turbo Boost)
Corsair 4GB RAM 1600mhz (couldn't afford to get x2)
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU Cooler
PSU is visible on the pics
3xAerocool Shark Organe Led (nice airflow, but a bit loud on 100%), 2x corsair (stock with case) and 1xcheapest red led molex connector.
Samsung 120gb 840 SSD
very old storage: Samsung 7.2k RPM 80gb (over 9 years old)
Corsair obsidian 300r case

Forgot to mention:
ASUS HD 7770 1gb. (don't like AMD, but at this price was giving me best option compared to nVidia)

Sry for the quality of pics... 10 years old camera :)

Time for an update!

I guess we can see a beautiful Z97 MPower Max AC here

And the entire computer (terrible cable management, but I couldn't fit anything else behind the motherboard tray.. new case needed). My hand is not part of the system, had to hold the terrible side panel  :bonk:

So a bit of upgrades, but currently that's my spec:

Mobo MSI Z97 MPower Max AC
CPU Intel Core i5 4670 @3.8GHz Intel Turbo Boost undervolted
GPU EVGA GTX 770 SC ACX Double BIOS
Corsair:
           Case 300R Windowed
RAM 4x4 Vengeance Pro Red 1600MHz
           Cooler H80i Push-Pull
           PSU CX750M

Sound card Creative Sound Blaster Z
Storage:
Samsung SSD 120GB (OS+few games)
Samsung HDD 80GB (old piece of crap, backup drive)
WD Black 1TB (storage, 700GB dedicated for games only)
Tons of fans (Corsair, Aerocool shark)
Samsung/Hitachi DVD Drive

And old but still good 11 year old Canon camera used for these pics  :lol_anim:
Possible Updates? Bigger case (750D or 540AirFlow from Corsair) to fit all fans and better cable management; and GPU from MSI (760 or above) so it's Corsair and MSI based system only

The end of a nightmare 2 month upgrade.

Been through 2 ASUS M7F boards, both rma'd due to various problems. Finally switched to this MSI board and after a struggle to balance the RAM against the CPU, have now achieved a modest 4.7 daily OC build. I have gone higher very briefly but this is as far as I want to push the H80i.

I must admit I really like this board. I found the installation was a lot easier than the ASUS and the BIOS OC features are quite easy to understand/use. OMG even the Wifi works straight out of the box with Linux, in fact my Linux build loves this board :agrees: Though I confess that I hate the positioning off the fan connectors on the mobo, I mean seriously why put 2 of the system fan connectors right under the main PCI slot. I like the fact I can program a nice fan profile in BIOS that actually works, so I don't have to use any additional fan control such as MSI CC or Corsair Link in Windoze and subsequently the same BIOS fan profile covers Linux perfectly.

Here's what it looks like atm. Right now I have had enough of moving this rig about and opening it up so I'll post better pics when I add WC over the coming weeks.

@whitepaw,

Nice rig ! Really like matching yellow of GPU (Whatever it is.), MPower (max ac?) and the heatsink with yellow fans! All you need now is some Corsair Vengeance Pro Gold RAM  ;D

Just an update:
Changed the tubes, they are now RED as the MOBO and mem colors; changed the Reservoir (the old one the plastic had been destroyed); installed two DELTA fans @ 230CFM on my EK Radiator, both are spinning at 5000 rpm; temperatures are OK (three 980GTX  IDLE at 30ºC; Full load at 50ºC-55ºC).

Hi, and thanks errrr yes it is my own job ? It started life as a Packard Bell 6810 SLI in 2006 and when the mobo failed about 5 years ago I set about replacing it and gradually the old PC disappeared until there was nothing left of it. Here are my profile photos on Overclock.net

So I decided to finally upgrade my computer after many years of using my i7 920. I wasn't sure which route I wanted to go this time around. When the i7 first came out the Canadian dollar was strong, really strong and I still paid a ridiculous amount of money on my setup. This time around I went more mid range but still ended up with a powerful machine. After a long time ASUS user I decided to go with an MSI board purely because the ASUS counterpart was on back order. I must say I am very pleased with my MSI motherboard and its bios is very simple to navigate around. I liked the board so much I decided to buy an MSI video card.

The specs:

Intel i5 4690K @ 4.5 Ghz

Corsair H100I GTX Water Cooler

MSI Gaming 5 Mobo
16g Kingston HyperX 1866 ram @ 1.5v (These things can O.C to 2400mhz)
MSI Twin Frozr 970

1x Samsung 850 evo 120gb
1x Sandisk 120gb SSD
1x Western Digital Blue 1TB HD
Corsair AX850W 100% Modular PSU (My old PSU)
Modded Cosmos S case

And here's an album of my rig and the modding process of my old Cosmos S

This system has been with me since 2012. It had started out as a 500 dollar build and is now worth 2598 dollars!

Here are the specs:

Mobo: MSI z97 Gaming 5
Ram: (recently updated and not in picture) 32gb (4x8gb) Corsair red and black Vengeance Pro series 2400 MHZ Ram
GPU: MSI GTX 980 ti g6
CPU: I7 4790k OC @ 4.6 ghz
CPU Cooler: Corsair H50 Hydro series

I will be adding more photos later once I get more time to take them!

Looks very nice, but the blue red black and blue (Like since the case is SUPER blue) slightly clash. Pretty good system otherwise ^-^

This is my computer I’ve been upgrading for a while. The tape is not around the radiator anymore because it just looks silly, it was for a mod to create more air flow. I also did a bit of modding to the computer and in a stripe of red LEDs on top of case and swapped the case original fans which were blue to some new and red led fans.

Specs.:
MSI Z97-G45 GAMING Motherboard

40GB Intel SSD (OS)

Love MSI and Corsair! these 2 7970's do amazing and this is a ALL AMD system and it does amazing indeed, BF1 or any new game ANY play on ULTRA perfect and at least 40fps on lowest and usualy a good 60 or 70 on new new games. this rig is the pc of my dreams and i built it myself peace by peace the last 2 years.
the cpu is awsome, the memory kicks butt, and the new SSD and powersupply own! they all love eachother with the MSI 970 motherboard and being MSI graphics cards, and all being AMD memory, cpu, gpu, and drivers. perfect setup.... old thread.. but wanted to show you all in 2017 there are still these MSI R7970 LIGHTNINGS STILL owning games and not having a problem.. r9 290 or 390 or rx 480 noway no thanks.. all stick to these babys...
