Keep in mind that the main factor for oc memory support is your cpu as it includes the mem controller. No Corsair DDR3-2400 kit has been tested so far on the Z87 MPower MAX (http://www.msi.com/product/mb/Z87-MPOWER-MAX.html). None the less it will work with that quality Corsair ram. If you can run at ddr3-2400 is another story. Everything above ddr3-1600 is oc and as usual with oc it depends on the individual setup. DDR3-2400 is already a lot of oc so if the mem controller will make it or not is a matter of luck. A very good chance should be with ddr3-2133 but your testing will show if 2400 works.

As flobelix has indicated, it is a matter mostly about the quality of the RAM and the CPU's IMC ability. I have the highest respect for Corsair RAM. You didn't mention the CPU you are going to use, but I presume a 4770k? I was able to achieve 2800 with the Corsair Dominator Platinum, however, I found the optimum RAM speed on my particular setup to be less than at 2800. Here is another tip. RAM speed beyond 1600 is almost a non factor for a gaming rig, and does very little for rendering and real world performance. CPU speed is the primary mover when it comes to performance enhancement.

Corsair as has been discussed. If the budget allows, get the very best, that being Dominator Platinum.

ram is done then.getting dominator platinums.which speed would you suggest?
i would use this mainly for gaming, planning to use this for quite sometime, just adding on vga's as time goes forward if need be.

i noticed there are 2 8 pin power connector sockets in this motherboard (JPWR 2 and JPWR 3) do i need to connect power to both or is just 1 enough?
thanx again

Recommend to connect both CPU power headers. If your PSU doesn't have enough EPS/ATX cables, the Athena YEPS828 spliiter works great.

On a gaming rig, test after test I have done shows about '0' real world difference between 1600 and 2800. 2133 or 2400 modules should be plenty adequate.  :-))

Here is a users review. As you will see, for gaming, not much separates 1600 and higher in regards to RAM speed.

The ram speed thing was pretty much a let down. :( guess i got caught in marketing gimmicks. : |
gonna get 1600mhz dominator platinum ram and use the extra cash i save on a good vga.
Thanx for the info greatly appreciated.
