I have the MSI Z97 Gaming 3 motherboard. When I try to boot, it gives the error:
Boot Guard verified DXE that is fail
System will shutdown
Press any key

There's no way to get past this into BIOS.

I saw the solution on the other topic about this (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=184488.msg1445457#msg1445457), but I don't think I have multi BIOS? There's nothing about it in the manual, and my motherboard doesn't have a switch.

Did you attempt to update bios before this showed up? Did you try to clear cmos (>>Clear CMOS Guide<< )?

Thanks for quick reply!

I didn't try updating the BIOS. I think I've tried to clear CMOS, I've tried removing the battery and jumping the pins marked JBAT1.

Try again with clearing cmos with power cord removed.

Also list system specs: >>Posting Guide<<

Whenever I clear CMOS, it shows the screen where I can press F1 for setup or F2 to continue. Using either of these gives the same error...

As for system specs, here they are:
CPU: intel i5-4690
Motherboard: MSI Z97 Gaming 3
RAM: 2x4GB Crucial Ballistix Sport
Graphics: MSI Radeon R9 290 - I only just got it working, as some power cables weren't plugged in

try turn it off and remove power cord from the PSU,
then press power button few times,
then disconnect 4/8pin CPU power cable too,
then press power button few times,
then disconnect 24pin power cable too
then press power button few times
and leave it for 10-15 min

then connect 24 pin power cable 1st,
then connect  4/8pin CPU power cable too
then connect power cord and turn it on, see if the message will be still there

Ok, so finally was able to take it out of the case. Now when I put 1 RAM chip in DIMM 2, I get the error, but when I do 2 chips (I've tried 1-3 and 2-4), it starts up, shuts down, then starts up again and gives no display?

Reseat the cpu and check the socket for bent pins.

It has one.

But I'm pretty sure it wasn't bent when I first had the error.

Doubt that but anyway that is the problem now. If you can't correct it yourself you need to rma the board and hope that MSI will cover it.

Since the memory controller is inside the cpu it is in some way not correctly connected due to the bent pin.

Alight. I'll send it in to MSI and see what they can do about the bent pin and the other problem.

Thanks for all your help with this!
