Hello,

I've tried installing and running the MSI Gaming App included w/my MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G card, as well as downloading the newest version direct from MSI's website for the new Gold Edition GTX 970 as well as previous editions of the App and none of the modes (none), change the clock speed of the card.

I've installed the App w/out Afterburner installed and the App never changes the speed of the card, when the tabs are clicked. The App reports the card running at 135Mhz in all modes, regardless of what mode I select...

Maybe I am not used to how this version works???  I am used to the previous edition of this App that I used on my MSI GTX 760 4GB Gaming OC Twin Frozr.  When a tab was clicked to OC in the APP, my monitor would go black for 2 seconds, then come back and the clock would be adjusted accordingly; i.e. Gaming or OC mode and would show in the App.

With the current MSI Gamming App, I have no way to verify the OC settings are taking place as the APP is not registering them.  I've contacted MSI support (twice) on everything I'm typing here and their answer was to download and install the Gold Edition GTX 970 version of the App, which did not work.  I recontacted them on that and have yet to receive a response.

As a note, I am using MSI AB at the moment, but prefer using the Gaming App.

Any suggestions/help is much appreciated.  Thanks! :hat tip:

Current Gaming App version:  3.0.0.15

Current VGA Info:  S/N 602-V316-09SB1410083760 (registered w/MSI today)
Bios: 84.4.2f.0.f1 (updated from shipped Bios to fix the fan issue)
               Driver: 344.75 (most current available)

I've cleaned browser history, cache, cookies, etc. and tried the 3.0.0.15 and the previous version of the App that's included on the install disc and it's still a no-go...  Thanks again for any assist!

switch to MSI's VGA drivers for your card 344.16:
http://www.msi.com/support/vga/GTX-970-GAMING-4G.html#down-driver&Win8.1 64

then retest

newest drivers may have some unknown issues

If you switch to OC mode or from OC mode, the gaming app will remind you to restart the system.

When the graphic card is idling, no matter which mode you select the gaming app will show the same gpu  135Mhz...
Try run 3Dmark or Unigine to see the card's real potential Mhz!

By the way, when you press the "i" in gaming app, does it also show version:3.0.0.15?
because I try to download the software from MSI website, but after I installed, the version shows its 3.0.0.10.... :undecided:

The App. should change your VGA clocks, but only load VGA clocks!
And not when its card is less performance state or in idle
You have to put some load on the card to see the VGA load clocks as hpipiw mention

Or if you issue is something else, provide a better clarify about it

Svet and hpipiw,

Thanks for your inputs!  I'll retry as you suggest and re-post in the coming days with my results... Due to Thanksgiving, I'll be unable to do anything until this weekend.

Thanks again! :hat tip:
