MSI GTX 970 GAMING 4G + RAIJINTEK Morpheus
« on: 05-December-14, 09:07:17 »

Greetings everyone.
So as I'm aware off, there are no "default" PCB for the 970. Manufacturers were told to create their own PCB or base it off some older PCBs.
With that said, how would you know if an aftermarket GPU cooler would fit on lets say MSI GTX 970 GAMING 4G, since there should be no such things as "reference mounting holes"?

I have the RAIJINTEK Morpheus GPU cooler laying around alright. But is there no way at all, to know if it'll fit the mention videocard?

Hi,

According to the spec of this cooler, this is compatibility list of nvidia graphics cards:
nVidia Kepler Chip (GTX 650, 660, 660Ti, 680, 760, 760, 770, 780)

So honestly, I don't know if it will fit it. Best if you ask some retailer or Rajintek itself.

I did e'mailed RAIJINTEK some time ago. They were a little bit unsure too. Since 4 different GTX 970 could literally have each their own positioned 4 mounting holes for the GPU.

Okay..

This is my suggestion:
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/webnote.php

Presales Enquiry:
Tell them that you want to buy SPECIFIC graphics card (e.g. MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming Edition 4096MB ) and you also want to buy Rajintek Morpheus for it. And ask if it will fit. You don't have to buy it from them though (don't worry if you live outside the UK, they just provide damn good support on presales questions)

Alright. So I just did that.

"Thankyou for your webnote, unfortunately i have not tested this myself, it would be best to contact Raijintel themselves to see if they can confirm.

Regards,

Alexander Roberts"

I then contacted Raijintek. They said next week, they would ship out their GPU coolers, to different GTX 970 oem suppliers. So I think there is still a spark of luck. I guess very soon, I know which GTX 970's, it will fit on.

 Honestly why sell if they don't know if it will fit...

At last, you can try asking MSI:

I contacted MSI support a few days ago. I asked if it used reference mounting holes, for the preinstalled GPU cooler.

"Dear sir/madam

Thanks for contacting MSI technical support.

Regarding your concern,Hi,you can get something from the MSI website.

Thanks for your cooperation in advance!

Best Regards,
 MSI Technical Support Team"

I still have no idea at all, how that was related to my question.
