【MSI PRO MOD-S2】 B301 SMKR
« on: 01-September-15, 21:09:09 »

Hi, my name is Mickee  from Makati City, Philippines. This is my first full on case mod . I would like to thank you in advanced for spending time on this.

Specs:

Processor : To be announced
Motherboard: MSI Z97 Gaming 7

Videocard: MSI Gaming N780 TF 3GD5/OC
Solid State Drive: Plextor M6S 128GB
PCIE Riser: Li-Heat Industries Type A 380mm x16 Pcie Gen 3
RAM: Avexir (It's here but the post office hasn't contacted me yet,  I better give them a visit)
Power Supply: To be announced.
CPU Cooling System: To be announced.

I will be using an old Chassis handed down to me by a good friend.

At the end of this project we will be looking at a Military Themed BTX form factor chassis, top mounted GPU connected via PCIe riser and case will appear weathered and battle damaged .I will just update this work log with pictures as the fun progresses.

Here we go :bonk:

First the components on hand:

MSI Z97 Gaming 7 Socket 1150

MSI Gaming N780 TF 3GD5/OC

SSD

Li-Heat Industries PCIE Riser x16 Gen 3

Base Case Start point.

Tear it down :bonk:

BTX Completed

Creating the bottom compartment.

This is what I will use for the bottom compartment's panel :noidea:

Just Randomly sawed off the sides as I have no idea how to dismantle it properly...

Bottom compartment test with a couple of Riings

Front Panel cut, made holes then bent. It's an iPod

Here comes the Front panel, Top Shroud for the GPU and Bottom compartment test fitted.

Aluminum Sheet for the GPU Shroud. Yes the place is a total mess :photo:

I was listening to music while working but the little PC speakers that I was using kept acting up, the power button to be exact so I gave it a semi permanent fix :agrees:

Military Green, i did not care about dust or anything while painting because I'm going to rough this up anyway :gg:

Spacers for the Front Panel.

This is still a work in progress and here is where I currently am with SMKR:

Those are all for now, Thanks, have a great day everyone see you around

Hi I'm back with some updates :)

MSI cut out from 5mm thick acrylic using a Moto Saw.

Last time I held a paint brush was back in elementary school art class, I do not know what's gonna happen with this hopefully it turns out fine :)

I sprayed anti rust brown + yellow orange then sprinkled it with tap water before putting Matte black.

Let the paint dry a bit, the way I timed it was after a stick of cigarette :gg: if you do not smoke good for you maybe 10 minutes is enough then dab the water off with tissue. This is how it turned out :)

Here it is glued on the lower front panel.

Dry brush anti rust brown, It was late at night but I wanted to take a picture.

Thermaltake MSI weathered/rusted panels and print/cut out logos.

For me this never gets old :)

For the Top part (GPU Shroud)

Those are all for now :)

It's not all perfect but I really like how it turned out so if there will be enhancements I'll just apply them once I've got most of the case covered with filth LOL.

Thanks later,
