Once again, it´s time to start a new worklog :-)

This time we´re accepting the challenge to build a Casemod on the Base of just a few seconds of movie footage in a very short amount of time. But we´re pretty sure to build something nice.

But before we start we want to send out a big THANK YOU to MSI, Kingston & NZXT for their support and the possibility to be a part of this Challenge!!!

Like you can see from the Title, this build we be based on the upcoming Movie BATMAN vs  SUPERMAN.
We´re pretty lucky that we got picked for the Side of our good old Friend BATMAN. We always wanted to make a build Based on Batman but never managed to do one. So we already have tons of plans in our heads what we could do with this mod.
So we did some Brainstorming and also watched the Teasers and Trailer for the Movie a few times. And then finally we made a decision that we´re going to build the new Batmobile.

It won´t be that easy to build a Batmobile upon an existing case....but i think there won´t be much left of the case when we´re done.
So let´s Start  with a first picture of the Batmobile so that you can see what we want to do....

The Hardware we´re going to use in this Mod,  already has arrived in the last days.
We will be using:

CPU:  Intel I5 -6600K
Mainboard: MSI - Z170A GAMING PRO CARBON
Graphics Card:MSI - GTX 960 GAMING 4G
RAM: Kingston -HyperX Savage 16GB Kit (4x4GB) - DDR4 2133MHz
SSD: Kingston - HyperX SAVAGE SSD 120GB
Case: NZXT - Phantom 530 black
PSU: Enermax - Platimax 750 W
Cooler: Thermaltake - NiC C5

It´s time for the first update:

After disassembling the case,  we started the building process from the bottom up, which means .....we prepared the first 2 Wheels . We also cut out the first pieces which we will now use to build the Fenders for the wheels.

These were our basic wheels.....for the back axxis we glued 2 of them together to get the right wide of the backtyres:

and this are the pieces we prepared for the Fender:

As next we will prepare the front tyres & fenders and then we will switch over to the bottom of the car. We also started the printing process for some of the Chassis parts...but that will follow later.

Like announced we continued our work with the parts which are needed to build both front Fender.

The process was nearly the same as we did on the back fender. So we cut out a few pieces.....glued them together and then sanded them to their final shape....

After that we cut out a few round pieces from which we build the front tyres.

Beside that we cutted out a few detail parts which are missing on the back fender at the moment....

then we cutted the opening on the back fender into the right shape before we started to sand everything down

And finally we made the first cut on the case itself:

In the last few days we continued our work on this project.

At first, we put the back fender on our belt sander to finish the sanding process and get everything in the right shape.

Then we cut out the last parts which are needed to complete both front fender. We also cut away a little piece of each fender so that you can see a bit of the tyres. After that, all parts were glued together so that the glue could dry.

As next we transfered the position of the blinker / position lights which are integrated into the front Fender and started to cut them out.

And in the time between the printing process of the first small parts is also finished.

And last but not least, we made the first small details for the front fender....

So, lets continue this:

In the last days we prepared the front wheels to get a matching profile on both wheels.
So we stapled them on a axxis, so that they stay aligned and we could mark the profile. After that we took the good old rotary tool and carved the profile into the surfaces....

We also prepared the first LED Spots which will be mounted inside the front fender....

Then we added a coat of primer to fhe first parts, so that they could dry while we´re doing the next steps....

As one of our next steps we grabbed a huge sheet of aluminium and started to form  our midplate/mainboard tray out of it. For the moment this are just the first bends.
The rest of the bendings will be done step by step during the building process. The part is also much too big, but that will also change during the building process...

As next we prepared an spacer which we will place under the Mainboard to raise it a little bit from our "midplate". This will be useful because later we´re going to route the cables which are needed for the Mainboard underneath it....

After the raw cut, we transfered the positions of the cable channels to it so that we could cut all parts out....

Then we made the first cutouts on our midplate which will also be used for the cable routing.....

naturally we already mounted the mainboard a few times for the first tests....just to see if everything matches like it should....

And last but not least we started the milling process for the rims..

In our last Updated we already announced that we started the milling process of the rims.....in the time between the milling process is finished....
These will be used on the backside....

and these for the frontside....

Beside that we overworked the first batch of printed parts so that they will be more rigid and can handle a long shipping without the fear of being damaged.....

As next we prepared an extra bracket for the GPU which allows us to fix the position of the GPU like in a normal case.....

We also started to cut out 2 brackets which we will use to mount the back axle. The Front Axle mounting will be bended out of the midplate. But the Postion of the back axis won´t allow us to do the same on the backside. ....

As next we´re going to build the upper Chassis out of the printed parts we prepared over the last weeks.....and beside that we´re going to overwork the midplate so that we could add the last details like the mounting of the front axle....

... keep the updates rolling:

As next step, we attached the rear axle mount on our Base for a first test, so that we could test out the ecact postition in which we´re going to finally attach it....

Beside that we took all the printed parts which we prepared over the last weeks....glued everything together....and started to overwork the surface with bondo and a lot of sanding.

We also made a few tests with out PSU, just to see if everything is fine and will work like we planned. (checking cable length....dimensions of the psu etc.)

After that we already started the painting process for the rims and wheels. We already put some filler and a silver ground on them ..so that they are prepared for their final paint coat ....

As next, we switched over to our midplate...to make the next bendings. This time we prepared everything for the Front Axle.....

And we also attached a hinge to the midplate and the bottom of our Batmobile....so that we could easy reach the hardware in the bottom section when it´s needed....

The next step will be, that we´re going to make the final adjustments on the front axle mounting...so that we could attach both axles for the first time. That will help us a lot preparing the next steps...

It´s time for the next Update:

A few days ago ....we made some tests with the PSU to see if everything would fit like we planned before. And everything was fine.....but then we decided.....that we want to add a small watercooling loop for the CPU.

So with that in mind, we started to look where we could find enough free space for all those components and finally decided that we´re going to swap the PSU for another one.

And a few calls later Sharkoon was so generous to step in and help us out.
So we want to use our Chance to send a big Thank You!!!

With that smaller PSU we should have enough free space to add a Pump, Res & Radiator....

As next we put the Upper Part and the sideskirts on the bottom part...just to see how it fits and where we have to make the next changes...

Then  we started overworking both doors. First we put them together with a bit of tape so that they don´t move that much when were testing out in which position we have to mount them. Beside that we also could see where we have to made changes on those parts....

At least we made some cuts on the bottomside of our Upper Part so that we could remove the infill and replace it with some more fibreglass and epoxy. That will add a lot of strength to the Plastic parts so that we don´t have to worry if it will survive a longer shipping...

With the time flying by....we´re getting more and more busy, so that we can finish everything in time.

So, in the last days we assembled the Mainboard, RAM and the Graphic Card so that we could make the next adjustments on the bottomside of the Top Cover so that we won´t get any conflicts there.

then we made the decision that we´re going to change the position of the Graphic card. The new position of the Graphic Card will be under the mainboard....so we started to cut a few parts out so that we will have enough free space for the Graphic Card and it´s riser.

And we also started to attach a few mounting points to the Top Cover and the Midplate so that we could mount the Top cover with a few Screws from the bottomside. Therefore we cutted a few metal stripes, which we first bended in shape and then we drilled a few holes in them so that we can screw them to both parts....

and last but not least we started to attach the sideskirts to the Top cover....

Update Time:

It´s not much time left....only 4 days of modding until it will be picked up....

In the last days we continued the overworking process of the Top Cover and the Sideskirts, so that we could finally mount the sideskirts in their position. After that we laminated a few layers of fibreglass to the inside to give everything more strength.....

Then we put both Doors & the Cannon in their place and started to overwork the last details on the contact points and edges so that we could mount all those parts in the next steps. beside that we also tested out where to mount the hinges for the doors.

We also prepared 2 aluminum panels which will close the sides of the bottom part.....

In the last days we continued our work so that we could finish our mod on Sunday as expected :)

One of the next steps was that we created a solution to mount the SSD. For that we cut out a small sheet of aluminium which already got all needed holes drilled....so that we could attach the SSD to it....and attach the aluminum part to the case bottom.....

we also cut out a spacer for the SSD so that we could mount it a few millimeters over the aluminium sheet so that we won´t get any problems with the plugs....

Then we cut out a few parts which we will use to mount the Radiator to the back axle.....

As next, we attached the hinges for the doors to the backwall of the upper chassis....

And we also drilled 2 bigger holes in our backside so that we could route the tubing from the radiator to the pump....

And because of the voting which starts on Tuesday (i think)....here is the link the the official contest landing page:

time for a pre final update:

In the last days we continued our work....at first we put some primer & a first basecoat of laquer on our upper chassis....

Then we made a few cuts on one of the side skirts, so that we could remove that part to access the i/o ports on the inside of that part.
After the cutting process....we drilled a few holes to add a few magnets to the small part which will hold it in it´s place

As next we cut out 2 aluminum parts which we already bended in shape so that we can use them to cover the last open holes around the GPU....

we also added a layer of primer & basecoat to our base so that we could start the final painting process as soon as possible....

After that we prepared a part which will secure the front axle from spinning. It´s riveted to the bottom....and will also be riveted to the axle.

Last but not least we prepare a few smaller details like a Batman Logo which we cut out, or the small headlights which we mounted on the front Fender. We also overworked the edges around the doors for a last time....

Tomorrow we will overwork the last details...finish the paintjob and assemble everything so that we could make the final pics.....

Today was the last day which was left for modding....tomorrow our Batmobile2k16 Project will be picked up and transported to the MSI HQ.

Like you can imagine we spent some extra time in the workshop....but we got everything done which was left on our list. So, approx. 1 hour ago...we made the last final Pics....and packed everything in a big crate which we also builded today....

But before we start at the end....lets move on in our worklog:

Because there was still a lot of small stuff to do....we started to work them off our list one by one....so one of the first things was.....paint the doors and all the parts which have to be painted  with a basecoat

While waiting the laquer to dry....we prepared the CPU Cooler so that we could paint it

And after the basecoat was dry....we directly grabbed the airbrush pistol to make the final paintjob on our upper chassis....

Beside that we cut out a fan grill for the fan on our radiator....

And then we had to start building our transport crate....
