I have a newly purchased DS100 mouse and it works perfectly in my new desktop PC.

When I plug it into my laptop, the cursor randomly moves to the upper right corner.  I installed the MSI drivers but it had no effect.
I can't understand it because it works for 5 seconds; Then stops accepting movement from me and moves in a deliberate 45 degree line for about an inch; Then carries on working fine.

Any advice would help.

Ok after confirming it was some piece of software causing interference (via boot to safe mode), I ended running programs one by one.  After confirming, with repeating the process a few times, it was an app called Movescount which is made by SUUNTO for synchronising my running watch.  With this program terminated, I have no issues.

Now Steam is doing this.... which is a big problem.  Has anyone got any suggestions??  

I have tried different usb ports, changing cursor speeds, uninstall drivers.  It still moves up&right while steam is open.

normally such issues happens when a poor mouse pad is used

Thanks for the reply.  The mouse works perfectly when the conflicting software programs are closed.  And as soon as I open the apps, then the mouse moves.  I can hold it up in the air and the mouse still moves diagonally up&right.  So its not the laser or the hardware.  This seems to me like its a software/driver issue.

i see looks like you have a different reason for the same symtpons

since you figure this, what is this conflicting software? and can't you just don't use it?

If I have the Suunto Moveslink app open, then the mouse moves.  
If I have the same app closed but have the Suunto sports watch plugged in via USB, its fine until I open Steam.

So my solution is to do the sync with the sports watch and Moveslink.  Then I just have to charge it with some other usb charger.
Then steam works.

Hopefully this will help someone else with the same issue.  Software apps and/or USB devices can cause interference.
