MSI GS40 Phantom, Is DAC processing or not ?
« on: 02-April-16, 06:08:10 »

Hello everyone, I've recently bought MSI GS40 and I'm very happy with that tiny machine. One of the main reasons why I bought it is a DAC (ESS Sabre), because I have an ATH-50x (pretty damn good headphones). One of my requirements was not to carry my external DAC everywhere. Well, it supposed to has a solid headphone output. I tried my headphones and my feelings about it are actually mixed. I want to ask, it is really working? Yeah, Nahimic software (ver. 1.2.12) shows ESS Sabre logo BUT Windows shows only "HeadPhone/Digital Output (Realtek High Definition Audio)". Now, I'm a little bit confused if it's really mentioned DAC and working or I'm doing anything wrong. Thanks. Hope, everything is OK

Hi there, it is processing.
You can look at Nahimic and you see SABREHIFI at the left side of the Nahimic.
If your remove headphone, you will see it change to speaker.

Yes, that's how it supposed to work. But, is there any other ways how to find an evidence that it is actually working instead of Realtek DAC?
