I'm running into an issue that I believe others on the forum have run in to and solved with a BIOS update, but I need some clarification on WHICH BIOS to install.

Running a Z68A-GD65 (G3) with Intel i5 2500k (SandyBridge). No overclocking. I'm getting a B2 BIOS error code when trying to boot with a new GTX 1070 graphics card.

When I boot currently, and check BIOS version, this is what I see: E7681IMS V23.7

So I'm currently running the 23.7 version BIOS available for download here: https://us.msi.com/Motherboard/support/Z68AGD65_G3.html#down-bios

This thread (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=163866.0) has a BUNCH of beta BIOS's for my mobo.

So which BIOS should I update to in order to get the 1070 working? The latest beta BIOS from the forum link, E7681IMS.P93, which was posted on Nov 13, 2013?

Or the latest from the MSI download page? v25.8 (P8) which was posted on Jan 11, 2013?

Or some intermediate BIOS?

Two last questions -

1. I believe I'm currently running ME7, I've seen warnings about NOT updating to ME8 if you're running SandyBridge - are those warnings things I need to pay attention to?
2. From what I've read, the Forum Flash Tool is THE method to use - does this hold for whatever BIOS I end up needing to use? Is this (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=116721.0) still the way to use it?

It is impossible to use a GTX 9xx or GTX 10 using an ME7 bios. 23.7 is the latest ME7 bios and therefor can't work with the GTX 1070.

Note: using an ME8 bios with Sandy Bridge might limit oc abilities but is the only hope to use the vga.

Follow the below:

1.)
A.) Download the attached (!) archive and place it on your desktop. Do not decompress.
B.) Download and install the >>MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<< .
C.) Insert your FAT32 formatted usb stick.
D.) Make sure the legacy USB is enabled.
E.) Start the forum flash tool and select option 1. Then point the tool at the compressed archive we downloaded earlier. Then to your USB Flash Drive.
F.) Boot to the USB and follow the directions. MEMTEST is included with the forum flash tool and it is recommended to run this prior to any flash.

2.)
Once the flash is complete, you must download and install the latest ME drivers:
 http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/intel_me81_win78_xp.zip

Following these steps you can also try the latest beta (P93): https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=163866.msg1267835#msg1267835

Thanks flobelix, I'll follow your instructions and give it a try. I'll start with the BIOS you attached.

It worked! Worst part was waiting for memtest to finish, otherwise it was extremely straightforward. Thanks again flobelix!

Hey , i figured i post this since  im having the same issues. When i did the steps you inclined the other user to do i get stuck at the boot to USB

I go into the bios and move the USB stick thing to the far left so its ahead of everything, save and reboot but i get "Operating system missing" message.

What to do to get it to work? :\ Got a brand new 1060 waiting here and i cant use it

When i plugged it in prior to finding this i  got a B2 error at the bottom of the screen  when i had it on a alternate hdmi port on my tv, on the primary it just couldnt find the signal
