« on: 30-August-03, 12:43:42 »

Just added soundblaster live 5.1 to my mega pc (p2 2.4)
any way which i can get the hifi to use the soundblaster 5.1 card instead of the onboard sound?

  • 1. turn off PC, plug the card in, turn on PC
    2. goto BIOS and disable onboard audio
    3. boot to WinXP and install the SBLive driver, download the driver updates from Creative website make sure you have the newest one.
    4. you have all the good audio but lose the "CD Audio playback without turning on PC" feature.

  • Mega PC is supposed to build up as to enable listens to music like a mini compo hifi, turning onboard sound and sloting in your 5.1 sound card and enable to hifi mode will cause the Mega PC to disable this function aka you have to switch it on the PC way for CD Audio Playback instead od Mega PC standalone Power on.

  • It means that Mega PC actually acts like a mini-hifi system standalone with the features of a PC when you throw the needed components in ;).
