MSI x370 SLI Plus: enable virtualization?
« on: 29-May-17, 17:07:18 »

Hello,
i've just assembled my system today.

As i do a lot of virtualization for work (reason why i got a ryzen 7) i'd like to enable virtualization features for the CPU.
I've roamed around the BIOS for a while but i can't find anything related to CPU features where i can tweak such things.

How do i enable AMD-V and possibly IOMMU?

I'm really looking forward to it, i really need it...

thanks in advance for your help

Sincerely

Look  for SVM mode (secure virtual machine) in CPU features.

Note to self: "RTFM Rampage, READ IT FFS!!!"

nevermind, i found it, a bit hidden, or well, not hidden, but just in a place i wasn't expecting CPU features to be.

I was used to a Z97 MSI motherboard BIOS where CPU features where under "advanced settings" while now in this AMD board they are under the OC menu..

quite odd tbh for the user experience because CPU features are not really OC related.

but yet i was able to find them by reading the manual, which exists for a reason! :) and now everything works fine.

@Nichrome the bios that came shipped with the motherboard (for now) i'm planning to install the latest version that came out during the first week of may, but as of now i'm not having any stability issue (i didn't try to overclock or pump the RAM clock yet)

thanks everyone for your kind reply, and sorry for having asked such a dumb question before even reading the board manual.

Hello,
speaking for Ryzen 1600X and X370 SLI Plus, Virtualization WORKS.

BIOS Switches: SVM and IOMMU (maybe others from Auto->Enable)
Test your VT with the tiny tool called SecurAble!
In Windows 10 Pro (very important): De-install Hyper-V as a Windows Service. Don't just stop the server, de-install, if you want to use VMware (possibly also VirtualBox)
