Mobile Workstation Upgrade
« on: 21-June-17, 13:44:52 »

Hello fellow forum members,
I am the owner of a MSI WT72 6QL-400US 17.3" Workstation Xeon E3-1505M w/ nVIDIA Quadro M4000M laptop. I am considering upgrading my M.2 SSD drive by adding a Samsung 960 PRO Series - 512GB PCIe NVMe - M.2 Internal SSD (MZ-V6P512BW) to the NVMe slot. I have the following questions;

1. Would I be able to set up a RAID 0 configuration with the existing M.2 SSD and the newly added NVMe SSD drive or would there be a compatability issue due to the different controller types?

2. Some specifications listings lead me to believe that there are multiple NVMe slots on my Laptop, if so I am unable to locate them other that the M.2 and NVMe slots on the SSD Board can someone tell me exactly how many SSD slot is in this laptop?

3. Why is motherboard information so difficult to find for this laptop? Especially information that diplays the components layout?

4. is 32GB the maximum amount of memory possible for this model? (I am just asking, because I was unable to answer when asked).

5. My current confuguration is listed below. I appreciate any information that can be provided.

From MSI specs page for that rig:

1TB 2.5” HDD 7200rpm + up to Super Raid 4 (2*M.2 NVMe PCI-e Gen3 x4 SSD in Raid 0 option or 4* M.2 SATA SSD in Raid 0/5 options)

4 slots, up to 64GB (ECC Memory support only for WT72 with Xeon processors Series)
