Tesla C2075 and Quadro M2000
« on: 03-June-18, 04:45:30 »

Hi
In order to test a Tesla C2075, I put it on the mother board (first slot below the cpu) and since I don't have DVI cable, I use my working Quadro M2000 and connect the monitor to that.
When I power on the system, if I don't press any key, the system boots into linux. Sometimes, the background is fine and sometimes the background is messy. Running lspci, I can see that the Tesla card is detected.
Problem is that when I press del or f11 during the POST, the system hangs and I can not see any screen. The linux doesn't boot either.

Any idea?

OK. I noticed that there are some bios updates so I proceeded to update the bios and try again.
So, here is my update:

CPU: Ryzen 1800x
Mother board: MSI x370 gaming pro
Bios: 7A33v4B
GPU1: Quadro M2000 no external power
GPU2: Tesla X2075 two external powers (8 and 6 pins)
Above 4G decoding: enabled
Power: 800W
Ram: 16GB (4x4GB)

After bios update, I inserted M2000 to the first pci slot (below the cpu). So it is x16.
tesla is installed on the next slot which should be x8

POST and ubuntu are fine with this configuration. However, when I swap the gpus (tesla on top and m2000 below that), the system doesn't show any thing.

MORE IMPORTANTLY:
After the bios update, I have noticed that when I run a heavy job with 16 threads, the CPU fan doesn't get faster and the fan sound is low. I remember for previous bios version, the CPU fan sound/speed raises with 16 threads.
That is a bit scary!!!

Any idea?

I am unsure how cards should behave as I never worked with such.

As for the fan speed, did you even check temperatures?
