B350 Mortar Arctic, latest bios causing issues.
« on: 13-February-18, 00:04:17 »

So as with the common topics of the week the b350 mortar arctic is now also suffering from:
Odd voltages showing in overclock (auto and when manually set, shows completely different)
No overclock speeds carrying through to windows.
(1700x defaults to 3.4ghz in system, task manager, cinebench etc)
Before this update to bios everything was working as expected.
Done the usual CMOS clear and re set clocks, but still not carrying over to OS.
I've now set it back in bios to the defaults purely because this latest bios is not functioning correctly.

Unfortunately, as said in many other topics, the only option is to wait for a new bios version...
In waiting, do not change anything in the bios parameters because some have bricked their mobo by doing that: with this bios version, CMOS cannot be cleared so, if a parameter is set badly, the mobo will not post...
Sorry to have not better news

Didn't know about the bricking so thanks for that heads up.
I think I'll leave it at default for now then lolol

My B350 Gaming Plus on last update has the same overclock speeds no carrying through to windows,cinebench but cpuz, hwmonitor report the correct speeds the voltages are ok on mine beside the vcore now the minimum is 1.3v what really is pleasing me is the memory now running at fullspeed 3200 instead of 2666 on previous bios.

Happy if it improves in your case! :yes:

Nevertheless, many AM4 users have problems with the new bios because of its AGESA 1.1.0.1 base:
- >>Wo'nt able to post after latest bios update<<
- >>[DOWNGRADE BIOS] B350 GAMING PRO CARBON<<
So, if I would be an AM4 user, I would not apply this update and, if I have done because I was not informed, I would not change anything in the bios up to the next bios version.

I have the same problem with the core voltage on the B350M mortar.
After the update, the voltage drops to a minimum of 1.3 V, although previously the processor has worked stably (!) At a voltage of 1.1625V.
At a frequency of 3.6 GHz, it heats up to a maximum of 72 * C, now in 10 minutes the stress test is warmed up to 88 * C (box cooler).

Upd. You can use the Ryzen Master utility to reduce VCORE, it works. So you can wait for the official patch, without overheating the processor

Hi,
Actually we have next situation:
Officially MSI position: "We don't planned to return lower threshold voltage for CPU";
Competitors (ASUS, Gigabyte) allows set lower than 1.3V VCORE in his motherboards;
Ryzen Master actually do not supports autoload OC-profile on each system start;

And now we have 3 solutions:
1) You may buy other motherboard from competitors;
2) You may manually sets VCORE in Ryzen Master utility before each reboot;
3) You may buy more effective cooling system and trying obtain maximum performance from your CPU on VCORE greather than 1.3V or equal;

I have this way:
On first i used the second variant, then i'm sick of this, and I went to the store and bought a more efficient cooling system.

First variant i'm not choised, because i hope, that BIOS developers to return more widest diapasone VCORE;

I hope, this info helpful for you.
