8851 GF3Ti200 128 TV out is B&W! Help
« on: 23-August-02, 04:11:10 »

TV out at 1024x768 is B&W on TV screen! I use the s-video/RCA adapter.

I have:
Win2K SP3
256meg DDR PC2100
Detonator 30.82
VGA BIOS ver:3.20.00.28.00 (original)

TV out worked fine with Win98. Do i need a new VGA BIOS? I've heard bad and good things about Live Update.

BTW, my 3Dmark2001SE score is now 7438 with vid o/c to 444/240, nothing else o/c, not many OS tweaks either.

Make sure your display settings are set for the propertype of video format.  Settings--advanced-- device selection -- TV format (NTSC-M- in North America)

yes! I've triple checked that, it autodetects fine.  Any thoughts on BIOS upgrading? (TV out worked with win98, i just wonder about win2k)

I'm currently in the middle of trying to update the BIOS myself.  All attempts so far have been unsuccessful.

rjordan, did you figure it out?
I've checked my video BIOS, it's upposed to be the latest version, so until MSI or nVidia gets their drivers fixed, i guess we're screwed.

There's nothing wrong with the drivers boys, its ur settings i believe,

if the picture quality is great except for the colour, try switching from Composite to S-Video or vice a versa, this should give you colour, for the latest video capture driver visit my FTP @ http://FTP://MSIForum:free4all@80.1.172.13

its under Geforce drivers

I actually have no problems with TV in or Out

My issue is that I cannot change the driver version without losing TV in via improper identification of the VIVO chip.  I just need liveupdate to work to update the BIOS

u tried the latest capture driver? you can get it off my FTP http://ftp://MSIForum:free4all@80.1.172.13 its under geforce drivers it sounds like your drivers don't match the card this doesn't sound BIOS related at all

I installed the new 40.41 Detonator a while ago. It works great for gaming. TV out is VERY difficult to enable. I have to click "Detect Display" many times to get the TV option available. And when it becomes available, I have to be in 800x600 for it to go to the TV, and even then it's STILL in black & white. :(

And yes, TVTool fixed it, but I really don't feel like paying for something that should be working already.

OK, i got it to work, but i neglected trying "Composite" out again because the last time I tried it the machine instantly rebooted. And i mean INSTANTLY. kinda scared me so i left it on auto select.
So, when it went out to the TV (800x600) the picture wasn't the greatest but it was in colour. I tried playing SOF2 but it was so dark i could barely see the menus, and when i eventually got back to the desktop I still barely saw it.  Rebooted and haven't used TV out since.
Oh well...
